Before Hawthorn Mercantile opened in Colonial Beach, every Tuesday, I would visit their sister store, “Evolution Home” in Alexandria, VA. These are two of my most loved accessories from Evolution Home. While in Colonial Beach visit Hawthorn Mercantile located at 116 Hawthorn Street for a Fun and Relaxing Shopping Experience.

For years this teak bench sat in the lower level of my DC backyard unused without human interaction. It weathered to the familiar ash grey, clinging on to flecks of white paint. One day I noticed the neighboring Airbnb had placed a very similar black bench on their porch. I smiled and was inspired to relocate my little bench to Hawthorn Cottage. After stripping, sanding, priming and repainting it black, the bench now has a New Life. My bench is HAPPY now…under the covered porch, protected from the elements with human interaction from visiting guests.☺️
