Not handicap acessible for chairs ,but with assistance we can help most up on the truck picture of ladders we have below..

Do we take childern ? YES

Its the law we need car seats for childern not 8 yr old or 80 lbs

Summer is in full swing and we are bracing ourselves for one of the busiest weeks of the season. Do you know what to do if you suspect a wild horse is in immediate danger or seriously hurt?

If you come across a horse you believe is in distress or witness illegal activity (feeding or touching/getting too close), please immediately call the Currituck County communications center at 252-453-3633. Law enforcement can be dispatched and they will contact our staff who is on call 24/7. We may then reach out to you for more details - photographs and videos are often crucial, so please keep that in mind and document what you’re seeing if possible.

Posting about injuries or other issues on Facebook without first calling dispatch wastes valuable response time, makes communication difficult for us, and could put horses and people in danger. Please save the number in your phone if you are going to be on the 4x4 and let that call be your first step if you believe a horse needs help.

Please help if ya can 💕

The last month has been a strain on us in many ways - physically, emotionally, and financially. It should come as no surprise that we have a significant vet bill to cover at the moment, but many people may not realize there are a lot of other costs associated with times like these too.

Over the last several weeks we’ve spent close to $3,000 on burials. We made an eight hour round trip to Raleigh and there are fuel and other costs associated with that, along with the cost of Moxie’s necropsy and her cremation. Our open houses at the farm are a main source of fundraising for us, and having to cancel two of them means we are already looking at a leaner year than expected. There’s also the normal costs of running the farm and caring for the horses there. We’ve had some medical issues with other horses that aren’t life-threatening, but costly nonetheless. Such is life when operating a sanctuary that houses older horses, many with chronic health problems. But it does add up. And on top of all that, we are in a drought and having to feed more hay than we normally do during the summer.

We’ve been leaning on your kind words and messages of support to get through this run of bad luck, and are so grateful for your continued trust in us to always do what’s right for the horses. We are now asking you to please consider making a donation in memory of the horses we’ve lost to help make sure we can continue to provide for those still in our care.
