Sharing some more before and after photos from our project back in New Mexico! 🌱
• David wanted a peaceful bedroom to which he could come home after a long day of work and just curl up in bed. He chose the word “cozy” for his inspiration. He sent me some inspiration photos which all contained moody green hues, lots of wooden elements as well as live plants.
• He believes that his bedroom should only be used for words that begin with “S”.😜 And let me tell you, in person, this bedroom, with the ambient lighting was definitely fit for some snuggles! ;)
• Before, the room was stark white, the beautiful wood trim was painted over, it had very outdated carpeting, and he had one wall covered in samples of dark greens and black, undecided of what shade would work in a smaller bedroom. I aided him in his decision by choosing a color that would complement the tile in his existing attached bathroom as well as the color stain he wanted in the wood details. Being sure to avoid the room looking like a log cabin, I added touches of cozy elements in his linens, area rug, new carpeting and new curtains. He wanted lots of “softness” in the room and the plants helped bring that feeling of warmth to the space.
• Note the dark painted ceilings! Don’t be afraid to paint your ceilings a dark color. Contrary to popular belief, it does NOT make your room look smaller, it tricks the eye into thinking the ceilings are infinite. When you walk into the space, your eyes draw upward and instead of seeing a stark white line in the wall, cutting the height of the room with harsh contrasts in the light fixtures, instead, it all blends beautifully together and feels like a big hug in a moody, oasis. 🖤
• I removed the outdated sliding closet doors and painted the interior of the closet for added dimension, placing the dresser inside to give more walking space in the room. Adding a hand knit, chunky blanket to the project (free when you book a room design) and some DIY’d, burnt-paper wall art (made by me!) with the bullets left behind by the former owner of the home who was a cop, I think it all came out very nicely!

• Andrea wanted a kitchen space where she felt she could breathe! She chose the word “open” for her inspiration to the space. She didn’t have an exact design style in mind but she knew she wanted funtional & cute storage options with neutrals and organic elements...all without breaking the bank!
• If you look at the before photos, when I asked Andrea what she didn’t like about the space she said everything felt SO brown and gloomy. I asked her if she was okay with a DIY budget or if she was wanting to replace flooring and countertops. When she told me she trusted my judgement and was happy with a jaw-dropping, low-budget makeover....I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do. It’s amazing what a little play with lighting and undertones can do to a space. These are the exact same counters and floor in both photos!
• Not everyone enjoys having pretty things that both function as storage and decor…but she loved the idea because everything was still in reach. She said it inspires her to take care of her home and keep it looking nice. A WOMAN AFTER MY OWN HEART. As someone who utilizes everything in my own living space with this same approach, I was SO excited to put her beautiful hand-made pottery pieces to good use! 🥹
• Notice the open spaces on the walls and countertops. I like to leave some areas free of decor and clutter to allow you the freedom to find pieces that reflect YOUR own style and personality. This gives you the opportunity to incorporate some of your own ideas and unique style to the space without my input, which typically inspires my clients to continue making the rest of their home feel just as good as the spaces I create for them.

I love all things vintage! And if you didn’t know by now, I sold my home and have been traveling the country in my Jeep SUV.

This lovely lady was my very last bride of the 2020 season! ✨ It was a chilly, fall day, but let me tell you...this wedding WARMED my soul. I’ve never seen a more intimate gathering. And I don’t think I’ve cried as much at a reception the way I did hers. Having just a few tables at her reception with ALL eyes on them, no distractions, no talking over the toasts, seeing the love this man has for her and her family. Just *ugh*. Her mother-in-law said the sweetest words about her newest daughter and the way they all came together in love and support of this marriage was just beautiful to see. I wasn’t supposed to stay as long as I did..but how am I NOT going to play the song she walked down the aisle to, on a whim, as they cut their cake?! I will never leave a wedding in silence. And it *will* be romantic! I can promise you that. 🥰 Richele, your dad may have been watching from heaven..but I’ve never even met the man and I felt his love there in that room! My favorite part of a wedding EVER is seeing the groom lose his “cool” in that special moment that his bride walks out to their favorite song! Y’all make it SO hard for me not to cry in that moment of bliss... it’s truly magical. And I can’t even explain the feeling of getting to help bring that moment to life for you! These lovebirds have been married for two weeks today! 💕 I hope the newlywed time of your life is everything you dreamed of and JUST as beautiful as your wedding day was! Her live wedding music selection will be a part of a 60-90 minute feature film that their videographer is putting together and I’m SO excited to see how it all comes together! Another wedding that we’ve talked about and looked forward to since childhood in the books! ✨ This was extra whirlwind-y because not only did our dream of her marrying her best friend come true, not only did our visions of me singing her song as she walked down the aisle come true, but I also got to stand up as one of her bridesmaids! Angela is one of my long-time friends and part of my family’s lives...her mother has even been nick-named my “other mother” 😜 and our friendship has always felt more like sisters to me! Alex has always in a way felt like a little brother to me too. His sister was one of my best friends growing up and I’ll always remember him as the quiet little boy in the back of my mom’s car during school carpools. 😂 It’s been a wild ride watching you two grow together and I look forward to watching it unfold even more.
