Do you sell seashells down by the sea shore? If not, not you are still in luck! Collecting seashells is a favorite pastime for both locals and tourists in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The best time for shelling in the area is at sunrise! Other peak times include low-tide or after a stretch of rough waters as both occurrences allow for the most number of shells to wash up onto the shore. Some popular places to find shells include Alabama Point, Gulf State Park Beach, and Fort Morgan. Don’t forget that these shells were once home to living animals. Please refrain from taking shells out of the water to help us protect our sea friends so that we can continue to celebrate National Seashell Day!

In Alabama, sea turtle season runs from May 1st, when mom sea turtles come to nest, through October 31st, when nests have finished hatching. Sea turtle nests can be found on all of Alabama's beaches from Dauphin Island's west end to Alabama Point.
The seashore provides ideal conditions for sea turtle nesting. Several species of sea turtles including loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, and green sea turtles nest within the seashore.
This is why is it so important to:
*Leave only Footprints
*Avoid using white lights on the beach
*Fill in all holes on the beach
*Report any disturbances in a nesting area to 1-866-SEA-TURTLE

The City of Gulf Shores is proud to present its Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration, taking place on Thursday, July 4. This beloved community event promises to be an unforgettable night of patriotic pride and family fun.

The fireworks display will be launched from the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier, beginning promptly at 9 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to gather at the Gulf State Park and the eastern area of the Gulf Shores Public Beach for the best viewing experience. Please note that the pier and the pier parking area will remain closed to the public during the event due to ongoing construction. Those who plan on viewing the fireworks from the Gulf State Park are encouraged to utilize the parking areas at Lake Shelby and the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion.

The City of Gulf Shores wishes you and your family a safe Fourth of July. As a reminder, discharging fireworks within the corporate limits of the City of Gulf Shores is prohibited without a permit. Please contact the Gulf Shores Fire Marshal at (251) 968-4292 for more information on fireworks permits.
