Hello friends and family!

2024 brings on a few changes at Sea Oats. Our housekeeping service closed, so we made the decision to go with a management company - Legacy Vacations. Legacy manages all of our bookings (and the cleaning!), and they have an office on the first floor of the building.

🐢It's World Sea Turtle Day! 🐢

Okaloosa County's Coastal Resource Team with the TDD is currently watching three nests on our beaches. Remember to practice methods (https://myokaloosa.com/bcc/leavenotrace) and help keep our turtles safe.

Here are some turtley 🐢 facts to nourish your mind as you head to lunch:

🐢Sea turtles always return home – females return to the same beach they hatched on to lay their own eggs
🐢Hatchlings emerge from the nest all together and make a run for the moonlight shining over the ocean. Make sure to keep your lights off when on the beach at night! Bright lights will disorient the hatchlings.
🐢Female sea turtles crawl up onto the beach at night to lay their eggs – they are looking for a clean and flat spot to nest
🐢All 7 sea turtle species are considered threatened or endangered
🐢The green sea turtle is named after the color of its body fat, which turns green from eating seagrass! The main diet of a green sea turtle is seagrass.
🐢Sea turtle nesting season is from May 1st to October 31st in northwest Florida. During this time, sea turtles come up onto the beach to nest and lay their eggs. After a couple of months, hatchlings will emerge from the nest and start their lives in the Gulf of Mexico!
🐢When sea turtles move through the sand, they leave a track in the sand called a crawl. This crawl is specific to each species of sea turtle and allows scientists to determine which species of sea turtle made that track.

Wednesday night fireworks are back for the summer!!

The Boardwalk Wednesday night firework shows begin tonight at 9pm!!!

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office will be on hand to push people back

First move is at 7:00pm to the weather vane.

Then at 8pm, Second move past the lifeguard tower in the center.

Show starts at 9

Side note:

Every week some like to be a total party pooper……..

Just don’t…..

Nobody has time for that……
