Our first Chateau of the Loire tour has been going wonderfully! Temps in the 60's, rolling fields of wheat and wildflowers, and a great gang of cyclists (my sister Linda's extended family). The food, wine, and spirits have been appreciated as well!

We just announced our 2024 bike tours! Drew Reynolds is now part of CLCT and is leading two tours in Germany. The "Northern Bavaria Altmuhl Valley Ramble" will be May 20-27, and the "Southern Bavaria Alpine Lakes Ramble" will be May 28-June 4. We'll then move on to France, for two tours of the "Chateau of the Loire Valley", June 8-15 and June 16-23. Finally, on to the "Garden of England", two tours June 26-July 3 and July 4-12. These are all fantastic opportunities to enjoy the beautiful scenery, quaint villages, magnificent Chateau, vast country Estates, and fascinating history of Europe. We just completed a great season of 3 Loire Valley France tours and a Garden of England tour. Of the many highlights in France, some included in these photos are glorious fields of happy sunflowers, giant nutella-banana crepes, a 5000 year-old Celtic burial structure in the middle of rolling wheat fields, wonderful chateau and their accompanying gardens, and wonderful wine. In England, we had miles of canopied roads with riding temps in the 70's, off-road paths through nature preserves and grassy hills, lodging at castles with gardens outside of our windows, and the 7 Sisters white cliffs. The last several days have been wonderful! The weather cooled off nicely and everyone loved Château D’Usse, “wild” swimming in the Loire river, the 5000 celtic Dolmen (royal burial site) in the middle of a countryside wheatfield, and cycling admist open-roofed wine caves.

Halfway through 2nd of 3 Loire Valley tours. Our groups have been full of super people, all loving the fantastic cycling, sights, food, & wine.

Next Monday, January 16, at Brewer's Coop in Stovehouse at 7:00 PM, come to a fun video and photo montage of the 2022 Country Lanes Cycle Tours trips and a chat about the upcoming 2023 trips, France in June and England in July. This will be the program for the Spring City Cycling Club general meeting (meeting at 7, program at 7:30) Once you see how much fun everyone had, and the kind of personal, gorgeous tour you'll get, you want to join us this summer!

We wrapped up our Loire tour biking to Saumur, France's center of horse and river culture, and from there to Fontevraud Abbey, burial spot of Richard Lionheart and cultural mecca, Chateau Breze, with its 4 Km of underground passageways, and on to Angers, the biggest city in the region, with its huge fortress overlooking the river and vibrant downtown pedestrian zones. It was a great year of truly experiencing France and England through cycling, and I hope you can join us in 2023!
