Bb Alligator moving through the tidal saltmarsh!

Based off of this alligator’s camouflage coloration this is a juvenile alligator. Eventually gators loose their stripes and turn a dark blackish/green. Alligators prefer a freshwater habitat BUT will use the saltmarsh for feeding or when they are on the move looking for more habitat. Sometimes they do get lost in the saltmarshes. Unlike their crocodilian cousins, they lack glands to get rid of excess salt. Did you know American alligators also almost went extinct in the US? In the 1950’s alligators were close to extinction due to loss of habitat, over hunting, and pesticide pollution. During the 60’s federal protections and conservation went in place to prevent them from going extinct! The efforts were a conservation success story and there are about 5 million American alligators estimated in the Southeast.
Yesterday was an absolute dream. 🩵🙌🏽 Thank you everyone who made that possible!!! We did a beach/marsh sweep, had some low country boil & local brews, enjoyed some excellent tunes, and watched the sunset. Everyone did such a great job and we hope to do another one of these collaborative tours soon!! Special shout-out to @pawleysislandbrewing for bringing the brews&tunes AND to the @southcarolinaaquarium providing the trash collection equipment for their awesome citizen science project!! Many hands make many work and great job Mr. Tom on finding the most “unique” pollution treasure, Beach Barbie!
Look who was spotted on the front beach of Capers Island last evening! Hopefully this american alligator made its way to the interior of the island for some freshwater after its adventure.
Leaping into the weekend like this dolphin who is NOT 🚫a paid actor for our company. 🐬Maybe it’s a juvenile showing off, maybe it’s a dolphin acting flirty (lil bit of pink belly), maybe it’s a dolphin trying to get parasites off it’s skin. We aren’t really sure but it certainly was exciting to see and not something we see everyday! @struttbrooks got this amazing video and we are SO happy to share it! 🎥🐬
Happy Earth Day! Enjoy this video Capt. Joseph created celebrating our lovely earth! 💙🌏🌍 🌎 💚

You when your crush walks in the room. 🐬💙
Remember all marine mammals are protected under federal law. We encourage all boaters to follow the rules and regulations when it comes to dolphin observation—we like to turn our motors off or put them in neutral while we watch before moving on! (We also don’t see this everyday but feel very lucky when we do!)
Pink bird feeding frenzy!! 🦩🥄
Love this wonderful video shared with us of a Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) feeding in the Tidal Salt marsh. 😍

Moon snail on the move! 🌕🐌 Usually found under the sand by a trail but this individual was cruising above the sand. This group of snails is sometimes deemed the “necklace” snail! Any guesses why they are called that?
Absolutely beautiful out!!
The crabs are loving the summer too! There are at least 5 in every tidal pool!🦀
Moses is also glad that the Spring weather is here! Book your adventure today!
