Tiana's Bayou Adventure, a new attraction coming to Magic Kingdom Park in summer 2024! With this exciting update, we said farewell to Splash Mountain Jan. 23, 2023. "The Princess and the Frog!" Tiana's story of hard work and dedication is truly inspirational (plus, it has magic and catchy music — a classic Disney combo). In summer 2023, the "Tiana's Foods" water tower was installed, complete with its tiara topper. Then, in fall 2023, we got a sneak peek of a colorful mural from the attraction's queue. More recently, in early 2024, a blacksmith-forged weathervane was installed — and now, Disney has confirmed that the attraction will open June 28, 2024! As Tiana's new story continues to unfold, we've gotten a brief introduction to the musical critter friends who will join along in the adventure.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be a musical adventure boat ride in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The attraction picks up right after the end of "The Princess and the Frog" film. While you're in line to board, you'll discover Tiana has expanded her business with Tiana's Foods, an employee-owned cooperative, and transformed an old salt mine into both a farm and kitchen. As they prepare for an exciting Mardi Gras celebration with the community, they discover they are missing a key ingredient. Join Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose), Naveen (voiced by Bruno Campos) and alligator Louis (voiced by Michael Leon Wooley) as they journey through the bayou and make lots of new critter friends along the way.

Now, these new critter friends aren't your run-of-the-mill swamp creatures. No, sir! They just so happen to be very talented and make up the essential missing ingredient needed for Tiana's party ... a musical band! This Zydeco band is composed of a six-critter crew, each with their own special name and instrument. Rufus the Turtle is on the harmonica, Apollo the Racoon squeezing the accordion, Gritty the Rabbit playing the washboard (really a license plate!), Timoléon the Otter sawing the fiddle and Beau the Opossum rocking her upright gourd base. Last, but certainly not least, is Byhalia the Beaver, keeping the beat as the percussionist and leader of the band. You'll want to listen closely as these adorable critters will be playing a rendition of "Gonna Take You There".

As you float further down the bayou, you'll encounter another set of animal characters — the Rara musicians! Rara is a form of Haitian folk music that's part of the musical history and culture of New Orleans. Octavia and Pawpaw Bobcat both play the vaksin (a single-note horn instrument), Claude and Bernadette Louisiana Black Bears play the horn, while Sebastián the Louisiana Black Bear cub and Phina the Gray Fox keep time on the drums.

The final set of critters you'll meet represent the jazz sounds of Afro-Cuban music; meet four frogs — Felipe, Mayra, Mondo and Isabel who play the piano, trumpet and conga drums. There's also Gloria and Delores, two BFF frogs who like to keep tabs on the folks floating down the bayou. But let's not froget about Lari, a mischievous armadillo who seems to make surprise appearances when you least expect it!

Also joining the celebration is the lovable Mama Odie, once again voiced by the legendary Jenifer Lewis! The 200-year-old Fairy Godmother will illuminate the bayou with her magic for Mardi Gras season and joke with guests along their journey. You will also get an up-close look at her eccentric belongings and meet her precious "seeing eye snake," Juju.

Other familiar faces you'll see from the film include Tiana's mother, Eudora; Tiana's best friend, Charlotte; Charlotte's papa, "Big Daddy"; Naveen's parents, the King and Queen of Maldonia; and Naveen's younger brother, Prince Ralphie.

The Disney teams did extensive research in New Orleans to help capture the soul of Louisiana — including the iconic rhythm and blues music! The attraction will feature original music inspired by songs from the film. Tiana also debuts a new outfit and hairstyle, perfect for a bayou adventure. And - the alluring scent of beignets will be part of the attraction's queue!

Do you love to collect Disney merchandise? Then you're in luck! Disney just released a first look at two new retail locations coming to Tiana's Bayou Adventure — Critter Co-Op and Tiana's Bayou General. Starting June 28, you'll find Tiana's Bayou Adventure and "The Princess and the Frog" merchandise collections at the Emporium. But shortly after the attraction debuts, the merchandise will also be available in the Critter Co-Op.

While we await the opening of this fun attraction, there are plenty of wonderful experiences celebrating Tiana. Magic Kingdom is the best place for "The Princess and the Frog" fans. Did you know you can meet Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall? (And during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, she even meets with Naveen!)

Also at Magic Kingdom, Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire on the castle stage features characters from "The Princess and the Frog." Be sure to sing along and have a swinging good time as we "Dig a Little Deeper." Tiana and Naveen are also on the first float of the Festival of Fantasy parade.

For fans of Tiana and her pals, this can't open soon enough! If you're looking for a "home away from home" to hang your hat before and after experiencing this amazing new attraction, check out Secret Star Villa in the beautiful Windsor Hills Resort. Our calendar is current so you can match your dates to our availability!

Disney After Hours Events

First appearing in 2016, Disney After Hours events turn Disney World parks into a whole new world. You get to see the parks come to life under the stars, and you don’t have to deal with large crowds or the mid-day Florida heat. It’s a win-win! On the other hand, Disney After Hours is a time-limited, separately-ticketed event, so you also have to consider whether it’s right for your schedule and budget.

Disney After Hours events allow guests to stick around the participating parks after normal park hours with limited crowds. That means you’ll encounter little-to-no lines while you wait for rides, character meet-and-greets and other experiences at the parks. Plus, you'll get complimentary popcorn, ice cream and bottled beverages during the official event time!

These three-hour nighttime events typically happen during non-peak periods, and batches of dates are released throughout the year. They were first offered at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom during spring 2023. Hollywood Studios added more dates for the summer, while EPCOT kicked off June 1, 2023.

Disney After Hours is back for 2024 with select nights at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The event takes place from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Hollywood Studios and 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. You may enter as early as 7 p.m. with only an event ticket.

Even though Disney After Hours officially starts sometime between 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. (depending on the event), event guests are able to enter the parks as early as 7 p.m. You’ll definitely want to take advantage of that extra time! If you'd like to enter before then, you’ll need regular park admission and a theme park reservation.
If you arrive at (or after) 7 p.m., head to the specific event turnstiles where you'll receive a special event wristband. But if you have regular park admission and you’re already inside the park for the afternoon, you won’t have to go all the way to the entrance. There are typically stations inside the park with cast members distributing wristbands. Just be on the lookout for special event signs!

Once the park closes, guests without wristbands are directed toward the front to exit the park. There are typically 30 minutes to an hour from when the park closes to when After Hours officially starts to allow for this transition. Expect some overlap, especially near the front of the park as they are leaving at the beginning of the event, but the process happens fairly quickly. Depending on the park hours, there may not be any transition time.

Before the event starts, it’s recommended that you eat dinner if you have not done so previously. Most restaurants are closed during After Hours, plus you'll want to maximize your event time. The overlap with regular park hours is a great time to do anything not open during the event. Try Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios or the fireworks at EPCOT as the perfect time filler.

Disney After Hours Rides and Entertainment

As one of the most significant perks of Disney After Hours, you’ll be able to hop right onto your favorite rides with no — or very short — lines. However, it’s important to note that while most rides will be available, not all attractions will be open during the event. (Note that during the possible transition time from park close to event start, you can hop on any available ride by showing your event wristband. Ride wait times will not appear in the My Disney Experience app during this time, but all event attractions should remain open).

If you're headed to Magic Kingdom, you'll want to note that TRON Lightcycle / Run, intends to implement a standby queue during the After Hours events.

Here's what's open during the events in 2024:

Magic Kingdom
• Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
• Haunted Mansion
• "it's a small world"
• Jungle Cruise
• Peter Pan's Flight
• Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
• Space Mountain
• Tron Lightcycle / Run
• and more!

Hollywood Studios
• Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway
• Star Tours — The Adventures Continue
• Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run
• Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
• Alien Swirling Saucers
• Slinky Dog Dash
• Toy Story Mania!
• Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
• The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

EPCOT
• Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
• Remy's Ratatouille Adventure
• Frozen Ever After
• Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros
• Living with the Land
• Mission: SPACE
• The Seas with Nemo & Friends
• Soarin' Around the World
• Spaceship Earth
• Test Track
• Journey Into Imagination With Figment

Note that the World Showcase section from China through Morocco is closed during the event, so you'll need to go from Norway, Mexico, the entrance to World Showcase, Canada, the United Kingdom and then France.

At these events, you're able to enjoy nearly every ride, either before or during the event! Most rides are typically under a 10-minute wait, often even a walk-on!

Characters at Disney After Hours

Character meet-and-greets may also be available at every After Hours event. However, character greeting locations may be limited. At Hollywood Studios, we saw Chip 'n' Dale around Centerstage and Woody and Bo Peep at Toy Story Land. You can expect that character greetings will be more limited during the party than during daytime hours, so if characters are a priority, hop to it during that early entry period!

Entertainment at Disney After Hours

At Hollywood Studios, enjoy additional showtimes of both projection shows at the Chinese Theater — Disney Movie Magic at 11:25 p.m. and Wonderful World of Animation at 11:45 p.m. You can also watch the first showtimes during regular park hours, which we recommend to maximize your ride times. At EPCOT, there is an awesome DJ spinning some great tunes — be sure to hit the dance floor with Chip 'n' Dale!

The nighttime fireworks spectacular "Enchantment" is coming back just for Disney After Hours events at Magic Kingdom. If you come early on event nights, you can catch both "Happily Ever After" and "Enchantment". It's double the fun!

PhotoPass photographers are also available at select locations during the event. At Magic Kingdom, try a unique and popular photo opportunity by holding Rapunzel's lantern by the "Tangled" area in Fantasyland — with almost no wait!

Themed Disney After Hours Events

Disney H2O Glow After Hours

Typically held each summer, Disney H2O Glow After Hours is a separately ticketed event at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park. This kid-friendly event features DJ dance parties, specialty food and drink, and a chance to enjoy your favorite water attractions glowing at night.

Disney Villains After Hours

Disney introduced a wicked twist to the After Hours events in summer 2019. At Magic Kingdom, malevolent music and frightful lighting took over the park as Disney Villains took centerstage! Like any other After Hours event, guests had exclusive three-hour access to over 20 attractions after the park closes, but the event also featured a special stage show, a character cavalcade, a live DJ and specially themed ride overlays. The spooky event returned in spring 2020, as well. No word yet on if this themed event will return in the future.

Tips and Strategies for Disney After Hours Events

Arrive at 7 p.m. for early access during normal park hours. You’ll want to maximize your time during the event, and this allows up to two or three extra hours that you can spend inside the park before the event officially begins. (Remember that you can get in at 7 p.m. with just your After Hours ticket. If you want to get there earlier, you'll need to have valid admission and a park pass reservation.)

If you arrive before After Hours officially begins, visit any attraction or show that is unavailable during event hours. Maybe watch Fantasmic while at Hollywood Studios. At EPCOT, be sure to enjoy the World Showcase pavilions during regular park hours, as most of the countries are roped off during the event.

Eat dinner before you arrive. While snacks and drinks are provided, only select food locations remain open. You’ll probably want to spend more time in line for rides and character meet-and-greets anyway!

Prioritize your options. Figure out which rides or experiences are must-dos and tackling those as soon as you get there. Three hours pass by in the blink of an eye!

Start with your #1 must-do experience and continue to move from one part of the park to the next. You don’t want to lose precious time going back and forth from opposite sides of the park.

Don’t hesitate to take a short break. You might feel pressured to get everything done in the short amount of time you have, but don’t get so overwhelmed that you don’t enjoy the experience. (Plus, a break is the best time to eat a Mickey ice cream bar.)

Is Disney After Hours Worth It?

Whether Disney After Hours is worth it truly comes down to whether it’s right for your family, schedule and budget. To sum it all up, these are the main pointers to consider.

After Hours could be a good fit if ...
• You want to hop on those popular rides with minimal wait times.
• You want to avoid long lines, large crowds and the daytime heat as much as possible.
• You're a huge Star Wars fan. Honestly, with this year's event taking place in Hollywood Studios, we think it's an incredible opportunity to visit with shorter wait times AND get a fun nighttime ambiance.
• You're only visiting Disney World for a short vacation and you just want to hit the highlights. This event can help squeeze in a park that you otherwise might miss due to your schedule's time constraints.

After Hours might not be a good fit if ...
• You want to experience everything that a park has to offer. Many shows stop performances after the daytime hours, and some rides are not available during After Hours events.
• Your budget can't accommodate the extra ticket cost.
• You have babies or really small children.

Overall, you're bound to have a great time in a nearly empty park with unlimited snacks no matter which park you choose!

If you're ready for a fun night at the parks, be sure to get your Disney After Hours tickets before they sell out.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida

Just like your recurring nightmare, Halloween Horror Nights returns year after year to haunt Universal Studios Florida. To get you ready for the nation's premier scare event, we bring you everything we know about Halloween Horror Nights 2023 at Universal Studios Florida. From the terror-filled haunted houses to the sinister scare zones, learn what you should expect and how to navigate this popular event! Here are 10 terrifying haunted houses, five sinister scare zones and live entertainment.

The event runs select nights from September through November at Universal Orlando Resort. In 2023, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida kicked off Sept. 1 and will run until Nov. 4 — making this the longest Halloween Horror Nights ever! The event runs every Wednesday to Sunday and on Halloween night. While all nights are popular, the crowds generally increase as it gets closer to Halloween. Hours are 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. every night.

It's important to note that Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is a separately ticketed event. A Halloween Horror Nights ticket will not get you into the theme parks during regular hours. Universal Studios Florida generally closes at 5 p.m. for those not staying for the event (though Universal's Islands of Adventure will maintain its normal closing time if you have a park-to-park hopper ticket). You'll also need regular park admission or a Scream Early ticket if you want to take advantage of Halloween Horror Nights early entry.

If you can't get enough screams in one night, there are multi-night tickets now available directly through Universal Orlando. Get access to: 1) the first 18 event nights with the Rush of Fear Pass; 2) every Sunday through Thursday, PLUS the first weekend with the Frequent Fear Pass; 3) every Sunday through Friday, PLUS the first and last Saturday with the Frequent Fear Plus Pass; or 4) EVERY night AND get free regular parking after 5 p.m. on all event nights with the Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass. Additionally, Universal directly sells HHN Express Passes, R.I.P. Tours and Behind-the-Screams Tours — all of which are currently available.

Best Dates to Attend Halloween Horrors Nights

Unlike many other fall theme park events that generally bring in families for one night, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida scares up a good portion of guests, especially locals, who attend multiple nights throughout the season to experience the fear over and over. The nature of the event and the number of locals have a significant impact on crowds. Saturdays are the busiest nights, with Friday nights not too far behind them. The very best nights to attend as far as crowds go are Wednesdays. It is nearly impossible to see everything in one night without upgrading your experience (which we'll get into later). Still, picking the best night to attend as will help you see and do as much as you can.

Those looking for an enhanced Halloween Horror Nights experience might consider one or two scary good add-ons that take you through the gauntlet of ghastly creatures and a multitude of menacing maniacs. The R.I.P. Tour is a guided experience that grants V.I.P. access to everything Halloween Horror Nights has to offer. The tour includes one-time entry to all of the houses, reserved seating at select shows, Universal Express Unlimited ride access at all participating rides and attractions for the date of your tour, a pre-tour reception in Cafe La Bamba, access to exclusive cash bar locations, complimentary valet parking and a commemorative tour credential, lanyard and button.

There's also a Private R.I.P. Tour option which grants you and up to nine other people all the same perks as the regular R.I.P. Tour. (The R.I.P. Tour can accommodate individual parties of up to 6 people, and will include multiple parties in a group. If your group has 7-10 people, you would need to book a Private R.I.P. Tour.)

The Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour gives guests a unique, lights-on look into the Art & Design team’s process as they transform our deepest fears into haunted houses. Guests can choose from Behind the Screams: 3-Haunted House Unmasking the Horror Tour (two and a half hours, morning or afternoon) or a Behind the Screams: 6-Haunted House Unmasking the Horror Tour (five hours). The tours give you the chance to see houses with the lights on and a chance to photograph every gory detail of select rooms in select houses.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Park Plan

The biggest draw of the event each year is the haunted houses. It takes months to construct these movie set-quality houses, and each one has a different theme. We probably don't have to tell you that lines can get very long for this event! If you want to make the most of your evening, you need to decide what is important to you. Do you want to just focus on houses? Would you like to see a few houses and a show? Would you just like to ride attractions since the wait times for them will be low? Since the houses are what most people come for — and see the highest waits! — they are most guests' first priority.

It's recommended that you get to the park at least 45 minutes ahead of the official opening at 6:30 p.m. to make the most of your time. Typically, Universal opens the gates earlier than the official starting time. The gates begin to open for guests between 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.

Because of the number of houses and the popularity of the event, it is nearly impossible to see them all in one night. We recommend choosing four or five must-do houses and getting those in first. Then, see if you have any time left after you’ve checked them off the list. Those arriving ahead of the official opening could do five, six or perhaps even more houses. Some have been able to get all 10 houses done by utilizing Stay & Scream and being very strategic with their night — getting the bulk of the houses done during both the early entry period and the last two hours of the event, while taking the middle of the night when wait times are highest to get on rides and see shows.

If you want to experience everything, not have to worry about waiting in long lines, be a little more lax with your night and even get the opportunity to go through a few houses a second time, either plan on visiting Halloween Horror Nights multiple nights, opt for a R.I.P. Tour (only sold through Universal) or purchase a Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass (only sold through Universal). We cannot overstate how invaluable Express is.

Here are some wait times to ponder. This year, at 10:08 p.m. when Universal Monsters: Unmasked had a 45-minute posted wait time, some guests were able to walk right in with their Express passes. It took just 7 minutes to get from the entrance near E.T. Adventure all the way backstage to the house itself. You might also save 35 minutes in The Last of Us queue with Express at 11:45 p.m. and a whopping 70 minutes in the Stranger Things queue at the VERY end of the night at 1:55 a.m.

Wait times started hitting their highest points around 7:50 p.m. when Bloodmoon: Dark Offerings peaked at 65 minutes. They died down by around 12:30 a.m. when YETI: Campground Kills peaked at 90 minutes. The highest wait times seen all night were Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate, when it peaked at 120 minutes around 9:45 p.m. and Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count when it peaked at 120 minutes around 11:15 p.m. The lowest wait time seen was Chucky at 5 minutes during the Stay & Scream period around 6:15 p.m.

As for those two fan-favorite houses: Stranger Things had its lowest wait of 25 minutes during the Stay & Scream period up until about 6:15 p.m. and its highest wait of 115 minutes between around 9:40 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The Last of Us had its lowest wait of 45 minutes just after park opening until about 7:10 p.m. and its highest wait of 100 minutes around 8:55 p.m.

Could Disney Be Looking To Add An “Amazon Prime” Style Membership Program?

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Disney is exploring an ‘Amazon Prime’ style membership which could “offer discounts or special perks to encourage customers to spend more on its streaming services, theme parks, resorts and merchandise.”

So far, discussions are just beginning, meaning so there's currently no information regarding the potential price of this service or when or if it will become available. This new membership would be in addition to Disney+ and would be aimed at more casual Disney fans so we are assuming the price point wouldn’t be too high.

Disney fans already have the opportunity to join D23 and can become a Gold Member for $99.99/year + shipping/handling and applicable fees giving them access to further information and events during the year as well as a discount on tickets to the very popular D23 Expo.

The new proposed membership plan would aim to offer more value for customers and most importantly for Disney would encourage them to spend more and would also give Disney vital information about members preferences.
