Hospitality Association of Koreans (H.A.K.) Who Should Join? H.A.K is for those students who are interested in the Korean culture and the hospitality management field.

We welcome all students who:
* are passionate about hospitality-related fields
* want to obtain helpful information through seminars
* seek advice from industry professionals
* are looking to be involved in activities and events within the school
You do not have to be Korean or pursuing a particular major to become a member. Events
Regular meetings will be held throughout the semester to plan a

nd prepare for various events, such as “Korean Talent Night” and “Hotel and Restaurant Tour.” Seminars will also be held during the semester inviting industry professionals/alumni and having chance to listen to their success stories. Network & Work Experience Opportunities
Starting Fall 2011 semester, HAK will be promoting professional aspects within Hospitality industry and will hold many more events related to the field. We are currently working with KACCLV (Korean American Chamber of Commerce Las Vegas) to provide our members with business opportunities and work experiences, and possibly internship and job opportunities. In connection with KACCLV, KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) may also be providing meeting and events related work experiences in the near future.

Hey Rebs!

We are opening an Advising Session by our guest speaker Dr. Carl Braunlich. Carl is an Associate Professor on the faculty of the College of Hotel Administration within the University of Nevada, Las Vegas teaching classes such as HMD 101 (Introduction of Hospitality Management,) and HMD 407 (Organizational Behavior).

Also, Carl has been helped the hotel industry in Las Vegas consulting clients like Wynn Resorts, Las Vegas Sands, MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment, etc. in the past. Currently, Carl is a professor at UNLV and at the same time, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Full House Resorts, Inc.

We highly recommend to ALL students from every year, but especially juniors and seniors who are looking for advice and recommendations during school year and after graduation.

Boyd Gaming Summer Internship Program

Boyd Gaming will be offering a 12 week paid Summer Internship Program. The primary responsibility is to learn the responsibilities of the various positions in the assigned department and complete all required learning objectives as assigned. During this internship, participants will:
• Be assigned a department manager who will coordinate/provide daily direction and support
• Be assigned a mentor whom they will meet with on a regular basis during their internship
• Have access to executive meetings and training classes on various topics
• Complete learning objectives associated with their assigned department
• Complete learning activities as assigned by their assigned department to understand the business operation
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures.

POTENTIAL INTERNSHIP DEPARTMENTS

• eCommerce (Internet Marketing)
• Information Technology
• Internal Audit

QUALIFICATIONS
In order to be considered for the program, applicants need to:
• Have proof of eligibility to work in the United States
• Be enrolled in an accredited college or university and obtaining a undergraduate degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration or related field of study
• Have at least a 2.8 GPA (must submit current transcript for verification purposes)
• Undergraduates must be entering their senior year
• Students must receive school credit for completing an internship with the Company
• Submit a letter of recommendation from a professor within your major
• Obtain and pay for any required licensing
• Be able to communicate effectively in English in oral and written form
COMPENSATION
This is a paid internship and selected interns will be paid an hourly rate in accordance with Boyd Gaming's compensation program.


HIRING PROCESS

We proudly announce the return of our Summer Studies in Switzerland program, June 10 - 30, 2013 (during Summer Session 2). We will be based at the Vatel Hotel School in Martigny Switzerland. The classes will meet four days per week in Martigny. Long weekends will permit guided and independent travel to hotels, attractions, restaurants, and wineries in Paris, Florence, Siena, and Switzerland. STARWOOD
MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM

Program Description

Starwood offers a Management Training program for graduates that exposes them to the places, people and practices that will help set the foundation for success throughout their careers. The training program combines practical experience with professional development, mentoring, and a rotation through operations and support departments. The length of training varies from 6 to 18 months depending on discipline. At the completion of the training, each participant is placed into an assistant manager, manager or comparable position at the same hotel where they trained.

Locations/Departments
Trainees concentrate in a choice of rooms, food and beverage, culinary, human resources, finance, revenue management and convention services/sales and are placed at one of our North America hotels. Management Training opportunities are available at select properties and every effort will be made to match a candidate's geographic and department preferences. Candidates are strongly encouraged to be flexible about their geographic and department preferences to increase their likelihood of placement.

Qualifications
Students graduating in the Spring of 2013 from a four-year undergraduate hotel management program who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to the hospitality industry through their academic performance, practical experience, and internships are encouraged to apply. Prior experience working in a hotel is required and preference is given to students who have previously completed a successful Starwood externship or internship. Minimum GPA: 3.0. These opportunities are limited to current undergraduates attending school with work authorization in the location of the position (U.S. or Canada).

Compensation

Also, Sandy is currently in the MAP programs at the MGM Resorts so anyone who has questions about the MAP program are also welcome to join our meeting.
