The best way to spread Christmas cheer is food and love for those we hold dear! 🎄
Last night, we celebrated the Walk Eat Nashville team at a beautiful Christmas party hosted by the Largen family. It was a night filled with laughter, gratitude, and incredible food—shoutout to
for providing such amazing bites (more on that, later) that made the evening even more special! 🥖

As the year comes to a close, we are reminded how much these gatherings mean. It’s not just about the food (though it was incredible)—it’s about the people—who all happen to be REALLY passionate about Nashville and dining out in our great city.

This holiday season, we are especially thankful for all of these moments that bring us together. Sharing stories, breaking bread, and being surrounded by love—it’s what Christmas is all about.

Here’s to another year of walking miles with friends old and new, tasting hundreds if incredible bites, and the amazing people who make it all happen. Cheers to 2024, and to every little moment that makes this season magical. 💕

We interrupt this holiday recipe content to remind you: you never know WHO you will see when touring and eating with Walk Eat Nashville! Opportunities await even in unexpected places. 😜 🚽

Check out who downtown Nashville expert Paige

Here is the story from Paige Ross herself, who was leading a small group of 4 on her engaging downtown Nashville tour that day:

“Since it was just the four of them on the tour, we stopped in at the ladies’ room of the Hermitage Hotel… two of them really did need to potty.

Lo and behold, a striking woman walked in to use the facilities. I was 99% sure I knew who it was, but I didn’t want to be THAT person. However, this is Nashville… and it was an opportunity.

I politely asked the woman if she would mind taking a photo… and, as a good Southerner, she replied that she would be happy to oblige… as soon as she washed her hands and re-applied her lipstick.

In that moment, I was endeared to Emmylou Harris forever.

Not only is she a beautiful and talented woman, she was gracious and kind. A truly special moment in my life. In a restroom!”

🍽️🩷 🦃 As promised, we are so excited to share some of our team’s favorite family traditions and tried-and-true recipes throughout this holiday season.

Here are two family recipes from our incredible Chief Eating Officer Shannon Largen:

“Pardon the dirty pages, but I see this as a sign that it’s a tried and true recipe!

The family that I married in to is full of amazing cooks! These two recipes are from:
- Connie, my mother-in-law, born of restauranteur parents from Italy.
-Harriet, my sweet sister-in-law, who will one day realize her dream of offering cooking classes.

💚The green beans are in our bi-weekly rotation but would be a great addition to any Thanksgiving meal.

🥘 The stuffing— the fatty, richness of the sausage, plus the sweet and tartness of the craisins— the perfect balance. It’s my favorite dish on the table every year!”

🍽️☕️🥧Pull Up a Chair at the Walk Eat Nashville Table

At Walk Eat Nashville, our team doesn’t just talk about food—we live it. Recently, our staff chat lit up like a Christmas tree when someone asked about family holiday traditions and recipes!

What started as a casual conversation turned into a beautiful exchange of stories, memories, and the dishes that make each of our holidays special. It was such a cool, unexpected exchange!

🍴 This reminded us why we do what we do—food connects us. It tells our stories, preserves our traditions, and brings us together. Over the remaining weeks of 2024, we will be sharing stories, photos, and recipes near and dear to the Walk Eat Nashville team.

We’d also love to hear from you! Drop a comment and share your favorite holiday tradition or recipe with us!

Every visit to Nashville is a story waiting to be told, and we love hearing yours! Whether it’s the music, the flavors, or the memories of past visits, your ‘why’ makes every tour unique and special.

Our expert WEN food guide, Rebekah, recently hosted a fun group of cheer parents from Tampa who decided to take a trip together – without a cheer comp this time! We love this so much, and loved spending time with you all!

We love all the reasons people choose each other and Nashville for their adventures. So, tell us: what brought you to Music City? Is it a favorite dish, a song that takes you back, or a story you’re writing with every step?

Share your ‘why’ with us in the comments! ”

🗞️ ICYMI, our fearless Chief Eating Officer Shannon Largen was featured in last month’s magazine, where she shared a lot about Walk Eat Nashville’s history and the new tours she’s added to our lineup!

“Both locals and tourists take advantage of the tours, which she loves. “It’s been a great way for people to play in their own backyard,” she says. “Many of our local real estate agents have also given our gift cards as housewarming gifts to welcome clients to their new town and help them find their new favorite restaurants.” — Sue Baldani, Franklin Lifestyle

Repost from our awesome tour guide Paige Ross who just oozes with enthusiasm for her job! Who can say it better?

“I know I say this a lot… but I truly enjoyed every member of this group today on the downtown Walk Eat Nashville food tour!

Gemma and Kevin from London, Adrienne from San Francisco, Jamie and Kim from San Diego and Keri and Gregg from Nashville… each of them were great and as a group, they all meshed so well! We shared stories, we laughed, we ate and drank, of course… and we made memories!

Sometimes I can’t believe I get paid to have this much fun!” ~ Paige 💜

🍹Happy Monday y’all! Let’s talk a little bit about a popular Nashville beverage, FRUIT TEA, and some Walk Eat Nashville history too…

📸 Picnic Punch from

🍋🍑 is definitely a staple beverage, but it’s more than just a drink – it’s a sweet sip of Southern history! And at the quintessentially southern Picnic Cafe in Belle Meade, open since 1983, it’s legendary for a reason.

📚 While digging into the history of fruit tea for a post, we quickly discovered this gem of a story from years back by someone near and dear to the Walk Eat Nashville team: Jennifer Justus. ☀️🍹Local expert, editor, and author was the first ever tour guide added to the team during our founding year!

"Jennifer was the Food Culture writer for The Tennessean and we had worked together for several years. As soon as I launched the company—while Jennifer was working on her Nashville Eats cookbook—I told her I wanted her to be my first guide. And she was! She came on about eight months after the launch of Walk Nashville." — WEN Founder, Karen-Lee Ryan

✍🏻 “Know where to look, and you’ll find Fruit Tea—or Fruit Punch or Tea Punch, as it’s also called—on menus all over Nashville, from biscuit houses to barbecue joints, bagel shops to burrito restaurants. It’s a concoction of brewed sweet tea with orange juice, lemon, and sometimes other fruit juices, served in everything from crystal glasses to plastic cups, and livened up with cinnamon, sprigs of mint, or floating discs of lemon. While some dislike its sweetness, which can verge on syrupy, others—who are equally passionate—believe it’s liquid gold,” said Jennifer.

Jennifer’s consensus confirmed our recent research, nobody knows exactly how this refreshing tradition started, but we’re sure glad it’s here.

“What everyone does agree on, though, is that nobody knows why Fruit Tea is so closely associated with Nashville. It’s sort of like music or meat-and-threes. Nashville didn’t necessarily invent any of those wheels, but its residents have sure taken them for good long spins,” writes Jennifer.
