"Reflecting on our first Thanksgiving together over 30 years ago bring back a flood of memories and emotions.
My sister and I, both newly placed under the care of our foster parents, experienced for the first time, the warmth of a decorated house, parental love and homecooked feast. That day was filled with prayers, laughter and shared moments, the beginning of our sense of belonging - a true family feeling.
Now, with families of our own, we've held onto the promise made all those years ago that we’d always carve this time out to reconnect as a family. Despite owning businesses in different states, every Thanksgiving was a journey back to Mom and Pop's house in DC. However, this year is different; it's our first Thanksgiving without them. Mom and Pop passed away after the holidays last year, and while their absence leaves a deep void, we’re determined to carry on the cherished tradition.
Our gathering place this year offers a kitchen spacious enough for us all to cook together, continuing the legacy of love and togetherness. As we come together, we'll laugh, pray, play games, and revisit all of the unforgettable memories our parents gifted us. In this season of change, I couldn't wish for more than the shared family moments and the comfort of tradition.
Here's to honoring the past and creating new memories that will remembered for years to come". 🍂🍁 "
