Fluid Night Club, just off of South Street on 4th avenue in Philadelphia, is home to one of the premier drum & bass events in the entire northeast, Bedlam. Headliner after Headliner, Legend after Legend have come to share their talents in this dimly lit room with nothing more than a DJ booth, a bar, and sh*t-ton of speakers. As you pass the oversized gentlemen with a mild manner and extremely long
dreadlocks, pay your measly $10, and get your hand stamped; you walk into the side door of what looks like just your average pub off South. As you climb the dimly lit stairway, encased by cement walls littered with flyers of evenings past, you begin to feel the floor tremble under you from the bass encompassing the dance floor. As you reach the top, straight in front of you is the bar area and to your left is the entire dance floor. A 25 foot by 25 foot wooden floor that has held many a partygoers’ two-step or break dance skills for years and years. The walls, bar, pillars, and DJ booth are decked in a sort of ocean colored mosaic tile. And the scene has been set. Bass. Low, flashing lights. Alcohol. Dance floor. Bedlam, which just passed its three-year anniversary, not too long ago, celebrated by having two weeks back to back of absolute legends. The first was DJ Shiftee with his unmatched turntablism, and the second was John B with his crazy blonde hair, amazing track selection and mixing talent (I was at both of these events). Not long before those two shows; Original Sin and Goldie (I was at those two, too) graced the technics way up high with their legendary touch, and all of them followed the man behind the scenes making it all happen… Seraph, who is without a doubt a tough act to follow. A lot of Philly natives are unaware of the existence of Fluid Night Club, never mind the legendary party, Bedlam. I can assure you that this is an experience that any drum & bass fan should have under their belt. The Bedlam party has a very deep, dark, UK feel to it’s music; filled with a lot of snare and even more bass. It puts a great vibe in the air and everyone gets lost in the atmosphere it creates. Fluid Night Club is located at 613 South 4th Street in the city of Brotherly Love, and Bedlam is hosted every second Friday of the month without fail. Come join us for some drinks and dancing, because you wont find any party this fun, or vibe this pure, at any club venue in Philly.
