April 1st marks the official day of nesting season 2022! At South Padre Island, we welcome the Kemp's ridley sea turtles back home to nest. This is the most critically endangered sea turtle in the world! If you find yourself on South Padre Island beaches keep a close watch for nesting females. They only nest in the day time and are the smallest species of sea turtle.

If you do see one coming up to nest on the beach please call our emergency sea turtle number immediately at 956-243-4361 and keep your distance.
