Happy Fat Tuesday! The Mardi Gras Parade is today! Participants line-up at the Gaff at 4p. and there is a $10 donation that will go to the local animal shelter. The parade route is starting on Beach Street, turn south on Station Street, turn west on Avenue C, turn north on Alister, turn east on Cotter, turn south on Station Street and head back to The Gaff. It's a must see!

Every brown pelican patient that we release gets fitted with both a metal and auxiliary band which is maroon with big easy to read characters. These bands allow us to collect data on where our birds travel to which helps us know they are thriving in the wild and aids in further understanding the species.

If you come across a banded pelican in our area you can tag or share your photos with us and we will tell you their story!

ZZ3 also known as Ramjet was rescued in April of 2023 after being found entangled in fishing line with a hook embedded in his side. He was later released and has since been reported multiple times in Port Aransas.

For 137 years people gather at Gobbler's K**b to see Punxsutawney Phil predict upcoming weather. Who knew a groundhog lived 137 years! Anyhow ... Phil, the groundhog weather sage, did not see his shadow which means an early spring is coming. Historically Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter, but after this year of storms we welcome some warmer weather coming down the pike!!
