The dog days of summer open up opportunities to modify and improve my kayaks. Today, I’m installing a new anchor pulley system and testing a possible solution to holding my paddle while standing up. Both modifications should lead to more efficiency, less frustration, and more fish to hand!

Had the pleasure of taking Zoee and her little buddy Cocoa out on a quick trip Friday evening! The weather threatened, but held off well enough for us to run into a big herd of trout and a magnificent sunset.

Even though I put the rods away for much of the trip, I didn’t leave Cedar Key without panning for a little bronze! This 25” male redfish hit like a ton of bricks and fought so much harder than the reds back home!

Does anyone know how I know it’s a male??

Took a little trip to Cedar Key this week, and sometimes the surroundings surpass the fishing itself. With ospreys, owls, spoonbills, and sea turtles (just to name a few!) constantly disrupting my focus, I couldn’t help but to simply admire the beauty Cedar Key provided. Already planning the next trip ❤️

Meet my very first pedal-powered kayak, Finny!

Finny is a 2023 Vibe Shearwater 125, and she makes the long distance trips significantly easier. Not only that, but she makes an incredible platform for standing and sight fishing the beautiful intercoastal waters of Tampa Bay!

If you can guess where the name comes from, I’ll buy you lunch on your next trip! I’d do that anyway but I’d be surprised 😂

Say hello to my first boat, Indy!

Indy is a 2018 Vibe Yellowfin 130T. Being the only two-seater in my fleet, Indy is perfect for couples or beginners. One of my favorite ways to guide is to stand on the back of Indy, paddling and poling the kayak into position, and directing the front passenger on where to cast. Many beautiful snook and redfish have been led to hand via this method!
