ROOTS: GROUNDED IN HERITAGE "World"HOMESCHOOL CURRICULUM
This Worldschool group meets Tuesday- Thursday and follows a curriculum designed to incorporate all core subjects with hands on activities for a better learning experience. The program includes a African Centered Activity book and each unit connects to one another math, reading, writing, history, geography, geometry, science, astrology, as
tronomy, human anatomy, spirituality, religion history, and more; tying them all together by going back to the root of where it all started and following the migration and evolution to the present time. Learners participate in age appropriate activities through Theatre and Scriptwriting to help learners retain information and express their creativity. They share their experience in our monitored chatroom for monthly points which add up to receive rewards, trips and cool prizes. This curriculum approach grows with the learner and as the learner advances, the activities advance further developing the learner. Suggested Schedule:
Daily 15- 30 Minutes of Yoga, Positive Affirmations & Meditation
Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday: Community Service
Tuesday: 9-11:30 Gardening & Nutrition (incorporates reading, writing, science, math) Join our community garden or start one even if it’s in your back yard
Wednesday: 1-4pm Yoga, African History through Theatre & Scriptwriting (incorporates writing, computer graphics, presentation skills, confidence building, mathematics, geography, and more)
Thursday: 1-4:30pm Continued African History through Dance, Drum, & Crafts (incorporates their costume creations, chemistry, cosmology, mathematics and more)
Friday- 1 Monthly Field Trip(museums, civic center, historic sites & access to global cultural travel)
