This is the season where may homeowners are making the decision to replace their AC systems because the unit is no longer repairable, and we are in the middle of summer!
This is a HUGE decision as this can be a BIG Investment for your home! 🏡

San Antonio has many AC companies to choose from and the decision on who to go with, can be quite difficult.

Here are a couple of things to consider when making this decision:
❌Don't go solely on price! What is that saying? "You get what you pay for." Same is true when you pick an AC company. Eagle has had to go behind companies and replace compressors or repair a bad installation. This ends up costing the homeowner more in the long run and even leaves them without AC for days after just paying for an AC. We are all human so yes, mistakes can happen, but does the company own up to the mistake and make it right?

✅Does this company pull permits for their installations? A permit ensures the company is licensed, insured and is completing the installation per mechanical codes.

✅Compare apples to apples. If you have 2 quotes from 2 different companies and one is "less expensive", know why. Find out what they are giving you versus the other company. Some companies don't even provide a 1-year labor warranty, which is the minimum. Also, the 10-year parts warranty is only valid if the unit is registered within 60 days of installation. Most companies will automatically do this for you, but some don't.

For your safety ensure your smoke alarms are working if using a space heater and follow the guidelines.
For homes with Gas Furnaces, it is recommended to have carbon monoxide detectors installed. We can assist with CO detector Installations!
Heating with gas stoves brings about many dangers and it is NOT recommended.
#1 Carbon Monoxide poisoning. It is odorless and invisible, known as a silent killer.
#2 Venting. Ovens were not created to vent out air. The fumes from the oven stay in your house.
Some Space Heaters Guidelines:
#1 Put your space heater on the floor and leave it there. Although tempting, do not put them on chairs, tables or any furniture.
#2 Avoid placing a space heater within 3 feet of anything flammable.
#3 Keep it away from water. Keep your space heater out of all wet locations such as kitchens or bathrooms.
#4 Never leave a space heater running in a room unattended
#5 Do not plug them into surge protectors, extension cords, plug timers, GFCI outlets, or really anything that’s not a wall outlet.
#6 Inspect heaters for cracked or broken plugs or loose connections before each use. If frayed, worn or damaged, do not use the heater.

Summer is upon us Eagle Friends!
Today's post is to provide you some information on the benefits of a Hard Start Kit. This kit is an accessory that can help prolong the life of your compressor and your capacitor. Which by the way, capacitors are our #1 service call failures in the summer.

The summer heat can be very demanding on AC compressors, so much so that they might start to degrade. Without the compressor, the AC won’t be able to generate cool air for your home!

Q&A:
Q-What type of AC Systems can benefit from a hard start kit?
A-All. Years ago all units came with a hard start kit to prolong the life of a unit. The kit was removed to lower the cost of the unit and now sold as an accessory, however, all units, NEW & OLD can benefit from it.

Q-Does it help with Efficiency?
A-Yes, the compressor works the hardest in the first couple of seconds when it comes on, a hard start kit can alleviate much of that effort. It enables the compressor to turn on faster and reach run speed sooner, drawing less amps/energy at startup.

Q-How does it prolong the life of the compressor?
A-The longer it takes for a compressor to reach run speed, and the more energy used, the hotter it gets. Excessive heat damages the motor’s wire coils, potentially causing them to burn out ahead of time. With a hard start kit near-instantaneous startup, the heat stays at a minimum and compressors last longer. Also, without the kit, the unit only relies on the energy stored in the capacitor for startup. The Kit is an extra boost, also, helping the capacitor.
