Haesel will describe the city's rich past from the settlement by the British to a bustling cotton port and now the fourth largest container port in the US to it's status today as a top travel destination that adds to this history art galleries, designer and antique shops, world-class restaurants, and local watering holes. Walking is the most delightful way to discover this oak-shaded coastal city rich with history. Learn about the many innovations, including city planning, the cotton gin, ocean going steamships and more that are part of Savannah's contribution to our culture and history. See some of the nation's finest examples of 19th Century architecture. A walking tour is the best way to see Historic Savannah. Your knowledgeable guide will take you on a trip through Savannah's past with emphasis on architecture and ironwork visible today. Meet the important characters in Savannah's history. Discover the squares of Bull Street: "The jewels in the crown of Oglethorpe's plan," Get a look at some of Savannah's 'hidden" gardens. Each tour includes a stroll along Bull Street and a view of the Mercer mansion before ending at Forsyth Park. All history tours are pet friendly.
