ANA First Class 777-300ER Review NRT – SEA

While ANA typically flies their 787s to/from Seattle, in busier months a 777-300ER is sometimes swapped in for additional capacity. I couldn't pass up the chance to see how their F product checked out, so booked the ticket and headed on. I had heard that it was getting "a bit old", especially with the likes of Cathay and Singapore upgrading their F products, but it remains an interesting seat design, and at the end of the day it is a suite, so how bad could it be? British Airways 747-400 Business Class Review LHR to SEA

There's not a lot of 747s left in the world and BA is one of the few still flying to Seattle. Coming back from London, I took the chance (while I still could!) to get on the Queen of the Skies before she becomes even rarer. Plus, that coolness factor of being on the upper deck of a 747 cannot be replicated. [ 753 more words ]

9 Reasons Why British Airways Business Class Doesn’t Actually Suck

Sounds crazy, but it's not...at least on the 747-400 I've flown British Airways First Class several times now, most notably on their 777-200 and the excellent new 787-9, but until this point haven't booked myself in their business class. Why, you (and my non-seat-snob friends) might ask? Well, for starters, it's a 2-4-2 configuration on the 777s and lower deck 744, or a 2-3-2 configuration on the 787s. [ 1,321 more word ]

Alaska Airlines vs Virgin America in Economy – Which Should You Book?

Here's how to decide... Now that the merger is complete, elites on both Virgin and Alaska should be receiving their perks on both airlines, and points can now be transferred from Virgin over to Alaska. Everyone who was a member of the two programs as of December 5, 2016 should also have gotten 10,000 bonus miles (though on Flyertalk it sounds like some people missed the miles and got 4 upgrades and 4 Board Room passes instead...bummer). IndiGo A320 Seat Plus XL Review in 14 photos

So far it's Seatlink's favorite LCC in India Based on some of the posts on this blog, you might think all we do is fly first and business class on longhaul flights all day, ignoring what goes on behind the curtain and what is obviously the largest air travel market by passenger volume: short haul economy. False! The reality of travel is you can't get everywhere you want to go in a lie-flat seat, and in fact some of the best destinations are only accessible by narrowbodies and turboprops, and we like those destinations... Virgin Atlantic 787-9 Upper Class Review in 56 Pictures

Minor updates to a solid, stylish business class experience On my latest trip to London I decided to try and get on the 787-9 of both major British carriers -- the British Airways 787-9 in first class, and then a nice revisit to Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic's 787-9. Not necessarily a fair comparison between the two airlines given that I flew in two different cabins, but that wasn't necessarily my goal. [ 893 more words ]

Emirates Flagship A380 First Class Review in 26 Photos

Short but suite! Experiencing Emirates first class usually means flying a long flight and going through Dubai, but there are a handful of short fifth-freedom routes where you can experience EK luxury for comparatively low cost in dollars or miles. Since getting to BKK from the states means stopping somewhere anyway, I opted to route through Hong Kong just so I could follow up my Cathay first class review with a little more luxury and a shower at 35,000 feet ;) Because this was a short flight, I missed out on the full meal experience, but otherwise this was as first class as it gets... Singapore 777-200 Regional Business Class Review in 15 Pictures

Yes, Singapore could do better, but it's still a solid product compared to other regional business class cabins in Asia Singapore Airlines is, in my opinion, one of the best deals in the sky when it comes to point redemptions and even revenue fares for premium cabin travel. I've flown their A380 suites product a handful of times on the NRT/LAX route, their "vanilla" first class in Asia and to the US, and their A380 business to FRA from JFK. [ 617 more words ]

Air France A340-300 Business Class Seat Review, SXM to CDG

Uninspiring (but totally adequate) business class product One of the things I love about the Caribbean is that while air traffic is dominated by single-aisle or turboprop aircraft, a few islands are the destination for long-haul aircraft from Europe. Perhaps the most well-known for aviation enthusiasts is Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, which is one of the best planespotting places in the world. [ 657 more words ]

Cape Air Review – Cessna 402 from St Thomas STT to San Juan SJU

Grab a seat...in the copilot seat? Cape Air is a regional truboprop carrier with bases in New England and the Caribbean, which basically means that if you find yourself flying them, you're probably flying to or from an awesome vacation spot...like sailing in the BVI for 10 days. Or you're commuting...but let's skip that scenario. One of the cool things about flying any airline that operates planes like this (Cessna 402, Caravan, Otter Sea Plane, etc.) is that the depending on weight/balance and flight load, the copilot seat is often up for grabs. British Airways 787-9 New First Class Review – This is What First Class Is All About

If only all BA F seats could be like this! As one of only two carriers with plans to install a first class product on the 787 (Etihad being the other one), I didn't hesitate to fly out of my way to get on the British Airways 787-9. Over 14,000 inches of extra legroom coming to the Alaska Airlines fleet! Delta’s New (Real) Premium Economy Product is Looking Good

Are American carriers actually catching up? It might seem that way, given that Delta -- who often leads the US legacy carriers in terms of new moves -- has announced not only fully-enclosed Delta One business class suites, but now a true premium economy product, not just regular economy with 4 more inches of legroom... While I am slightly disappointed that it's not a 2-3-2 configuration, and it's unlikely that the product will see any air time in anything other than Delta's upcoming-but-limited A350 fleet, this is a huge step forward. Inside United’s New Polaris Business Class Seat

Say goodbye to Global First; say hello to Polaris Business Class... Last week I attended the UA Polaris Business Class event in San Francisco where I got the chance to be among the first to get hands-on with a working demo of UA's new biz class seat. While it's going to be a slow rollout for United, the idea of having an updated business class hard product is super compelling to me, because I currently try to avoid flying their business class whenever possible, due in large part to the 2-4-2 configuration — I think we can all agree that everyone in business class should have direct aisle access :) That said, I loved flying United when I did, mostly because of my [ 966 more words ]

Delta Steps Up Its Game With an All-Suites Business Class – Possible Initial Routes Uncovered

Game-changing move that could make it worth hanging on to those SkyMiles In a world's first, announced in August an all-suites business class cabin (Delta One) that flyers will get to fly starting Fall of 2017 on Delta's initial A350 routes. Since then we've learned what these initial routes are likely to be. This is obviously particularly compelling for Delta travelers, but a wider business travel audience might also consider a switch because this hard product looks like all sorts of awesome. Delta One A330-200 Business Class Review, Beijing (PEK) to Seattle (SEA)

Delta's best business class product, hands down. Hopping between Asia and the US, you'd think I wouldn't hesitate to throw some points down for a tier 1 airline like Singapore, ANA, JAL, Cathay, or even Korean, but sometimes you just don't have the luxury or time (or points!) to make an extra stop on your way home, which is what happened to me this trip. Solid SPG offering in the heart of Bangkok If you're headed to SE Asia then it's given that you'll end up flying in/out of Bangkok at some point.
