We had lots of interest in our posting earlier this week, so we have decided to kick the season off with a kite flying event on March 20th. Rain date will be March 27th. Bring your kites and have some high-flying fun! We plan on firing up our new pizza oven and enjoying the afternoon. Starts at 1pm. See ya at the Garden soon - 🪁🪁🪁

It's February now but spring is just around the corner, and with it the springtime mountain bird migration. So, book your stay at the log cabin on Old Mill Lane, and head to some of the nearby birding hotspots at Mount Mitchell, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and beyond.

International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) is celebrated on the second Saturday in May every year.

Several bird feeders have been placed within easy viewing of the Old Mill Lane Vacation Rental, and a bird guide and binoculars are available for guests. Winter visitors to the bird feeders include the cardinal, North Carolina's State Bird.

Biltmore in the snow

At 6,684 feet, Mount Mitchell is cooler by far than it is down in the valleys. It's a great place to take in the view and enjoy a picnic. The trail to the top is also paved, so it is more accessible than many other trails.
