Cullen House is a beautiful self-catering guest house in the quaint picturesque town of Clarens. This unique little town is known as the Jewel of the Free State. If you are looking for serenity, beauty and tranquility, this is the perfect getaway for you.

Cullen House is one of the original sandstone houses built in the early 1900’s. The home is situated in a beautiful large and expansive garden adding to its charm. Cullen House is truly a special and memorable place. It has all the comforts to make it your home, away from home.

Cullen House offers beautiful mountain views, which adds to the serenity of the house. The gorgeous veranda provides a unique vantage point to take in the spectacular mountain views including Mount Horab, the Rooiberge and Titanic Rock. Enjoy the overwhelming sound of silence and abundant birdlife while lounging on the hammock. At night the crystal clear sky will spectacularly display the breath-taking Milky Way.

Cullen House is ideal for a getaway for families and groups of friends. It is the perfect venue to truly relax, have fun and at the same time, rejuvenate your soul.

Clarens is known for its spectacular sandstone mountains and is one of the most picturesque spots in South Africa. Here you will find some of the country's best trout fishing waters and the area is ideal for horse riding, as well as mountain bikes. Motorbike enthusiasts love the open roads and clean air in and around Clarens. The area of Clarens is a haven for photographers as it is surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Cullen House is a beautiful space where you can retreat after exploring the many wonderful sights and activities around Clarens. Clarens has it all. To name a few, art galleries, zip-lining, trout fishing, hiking, an abundance of restaurants and coffee shops, tours to see fossilised dinosaur footprints, hot air ballooning and horse riding. Clarens is only 20km away from the magnificent Golden Gate Highlands National Park.

Cullen House is a short 5 minute walk into Clarens town where you will find a variety of delightful retails stores, places to eat and art galleries. Bethlehem is 40km away if you need more commercial stores like Woolworths Food, Game etc.

Accommodation

Cullen House is a stylish home, furnished in natural tones with a mix of modern and comfortable country furniture.

Crisp white linen, soft white towels, a large central fireplace that heats up the the lounge, baskets filled with warm fluffy blankets are just some of the things that make Cullen House exquisite. The veranda, with its hammock and comfy couch, is a delight and an added bonus.

Cullen House sleeps 8 guests in total and consists of the main house and a cottage.

The Main House

The house sleeps six guests. There are three comfortable bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one en-suite, and a separate toilet. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds and the third bedroom has two single beds.

There is a fireplace in the lounge for those cold winter Free State nights.

On those cold mountain days and nights, cuddle up on the couch and binge watch series and movies. The house has two TV’s with DStv Premium offering 136 channels. One TV is in the lounge and a second one is in the comfy TV room.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a fridge, stove, oven, microwave oven, Weber braai, dishwasher and an old fashioned coal stove.

The warm cozy dining room calls for hearty home cooked meals and memorable conversations with friends and family.

The Cottage

The cottage sleeps two people and consists of a bedroom with a queen size bed, a bathroom with a shower and under floor heating throughout. The cottage is equipped with a microwave oven, a toaster and a kettle as well as the basic utensils for serving coffee and ready-made meals.
