ADVERTISEMENT: BRANCH MANAGER
The above position has become vacant at Eastgate Safaris & Transfers in Hoedspruit. The Branch Manager is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate must have a cautious, proactive personality; very strong administrative- and managerial skills; and a deep respect for consistency and fairness in the application of rules and management of people.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Matric/Grade 12 certificate
• 5 years’ managerial experience, with staff members reporting to you
• Proven experience in disciplinary action (initiating and chairing a Hearing)
• Computer literate in MS Office, with at least intermediate skills in Excel
• An excellent command of English, both verbally and written
• Code B driver’s license
• Must be an RSA citizen
• A proven record of good interpersonal- and communication skills
• Proven experience in operations management
ADVANTAGEOUS REQUIREMENTS
• Relevant qualification in Transportation Management
• Relevant qualification in Business Management
• Experience in managing-, scheduling and optimizing a fleet of vehicles
• Experience in managing-, scheduling and optimizing a driver's corps
• Experience in advanced business reporting
• Experience in rate calculations, discussions and negotiations.
• Experience in a booking system for travel or transportation system(s).
• Experience in managing-, scheduling and dealing with Independent Contractors (Freelance drivers)
JOB FUNCTION (INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO)
People Management
1 General
• Leave of all permanent employees must be accurately submitted and managed
• Working hours must be within legal parameters
• Overtime must be carefully managed and limited
• The appropriate disciplinary steps must be taken, following careful investigations
• Adherence to company policies and procedures must be ensured
• Multi-skilling must take place, to avoid the risk of over-reliance on any individual
• Performance management and staff development must take place
• High staff morale must be maintained
• The company values must be kept alive in a deliberate manner
• HR must be supplied with all documentation to maintain up-to-date staff files
• Ensure that drivers are adequately managed
• Their PDPs must be renewed before they expire
• High-risk health conditions must be carefully managed
• Work distribution must be fair, avoiding favouritism
• The necessary training must take place
• Investigations into speeding incidents and accidents must be conducted
• The Independent Contractors (Freelancers) must be carefully managed
Client Service
1 Ensure service excellence
• Ensure that the vehicles leaving the depot are clean and professional
• Ensure that the drivers know how to deliver excellent service
• Ensure that our relationship with key clients is nurtured on an ongoing basis
• Understand client needs and take initiative in proactive client service
2 Complaint management
• Respond appropriately, professionally and quickly when a complaint is received
• Conduct careful, fair, yet quick investigations into all complaints
• Address complaints in such a manner that our client relationship is not damaged
• Limit compensation payment
• Keep a careful record of all complaints, to enable accurate data for analysis, when necessary
Operational
1 Fleet
• Ensure that the fleet is well maintained, safe and professional in appearance, at all times
• Monitor the fleet utilisation, and ensure maximize the utilization of all vehicles, without over-extending the newer vehicles
• Monitor that the services and fleet maintenance take place on the correct kilometres to ensure the vehicles are always well
maintained and in a very good condition
• Build strong relationships with everyone involved in the fleet, e.g. workshops/service providers and cleaners
• Monitor fuel- and maintenance costs, to ensure proper control
• Investigate and flag irregularities
• Monitor sub-hires and unnecessary empty kilometres
• Monitor the movement of the fleet, to prevent abuse of the vehicles
2 Tracking and monitoring
• Keep the various tracking sheets accurately maintained, to ensure data accuracy
• Keep careful track of all complaints, speeding and other incidents
• Ensure proper time-keeping for all staff members
• Monitor that only authorised entrance and exit into the building are used and that the security and alarm system is in good working order together with the security company
3 Financial
• Monitor and check overtime submissions and Freelancers’ invoicing
• Check- and sign off on all financial claims or invoices
• Monitor the payment of allowances to deserving staff members and ensure that slips are submitted, when necessary
• Ensure invoicing takes place daily
• Monitor that couriers are returned, as they should, and that irregularities are addressed
• Monitor the branch expenses and prevent unnecessary expenses
• Ensure that petty cash balances at all times
• Ensure that all staff and Freelancer Driver’s Bidvest cards balance at all times.
