Our diverse studio of professionals, with a unique blend of youth and experience, approaches every project as a unique opportunity to explore, discover and question the built environment. The practice

is not restricted by a specific building type, but rather navigates the residential, retail and commercial sectors with a strong focus on design, which produces individual possibilities and thoughtful responses to people, brief and place. We place a strong emphasis on hand drawing as an intuitive tool that develops ideas and generates conceptual thinking, which is then translated through the latest technological means. The end result is a blend of thoroughly explored ideas, which present a warmth and intent to the client, while clearly communicating the technical aspects to the contractor. As the firm has an integrated construction department, we are able to follow through the original ideas and maintain the integrity of the design through to completion, by walking the client through the entire building process. With this much involvement and attention placed on to each project, we often describe it as a project that is designed and built, as if it were our own!

I just love the hand sketches that come out of our office. I asked our senior designer to do a quick sketch for a jack knife door for our Dunkeld project that we are the architects and builders on.

This was passed onto the manufacturer to help explain the idea. 20mins by hand vs at least an hour or more by computer. And I think the sketch says it all

Why do Architects charge what they do? Welcome to yet another edition of our ongoing series exploring the inner workings of the complex world of Architecture. We find ourselves as a nation – and planet – in a very crazy time. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected every industry in sight, and will no doubt have far-reaching consequences on business, commerce, trade and economics – never mind on all our personal lives. Many businesses, and perhaps even industries as a whole, will struggle to survive this shift, and many will simply cease to exist.
