Based on expert medical advice, Australia has taken the necessary and temporary decision to postpone the next step to safely reopen Australia to fully vaccinated eligible visa holders, including students and skilled workers, until 15 December 2021. The reopening to travellers from Japan and the Republic of Korea will also be paused until 15 December.

This temporary pause will enable Australia to gather the information we need to better understand the Omicron variant to ensure we can continue to open safely to the world. BREAKING: International students will return to study in Queensland in 2022.

They will be the first to use the Regional Quarantine Facility at Wellcamp.

First priority will be given to medical students and allied health professionals.

Students will be required to be fully vaccinated and a proportion of students will study at universities outside of Brisbane.

International students contribute $5.8 billion to our economy.

This is an important step in rebuilding Queensland’s international education sector and is a key part of our COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.

Australia Post has temporarily suspended parcel delivery to a number of destinations, including Ireland, due to limited flight capacity. At this time, this suspension only affects parcels - letters are still being delivered 📦

Items sent prior to 22 September will still be delivered though delays should be expected.

Australia Post are also seeing more items than usual being delayed or returned to sender by Irish Customs, due to incorrect or insufficient customs declarations.

Irish customs has new systems and processes aligning with the Brexit and EU customs changes. When sending items to Ireland, the following data must be provided to avoid your items being returned:

- Sender and receiver information
- Comprehensive declaration including product description and Taric Code

Immigration at it's best! 💚

Ashish Gupta came to Bundaberg from India in 2003 with $700 in his pocket. Now he’s training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons with the most advanced technology in the world.

He chose Queensland not just for the sunshine, but for the ambition and support from government and enterprise.

He’s an orthopaedic surgeon by trade. It’s been his life’s work to provide this vital health care and support.

In partnership with QUT, he’s the founder of the largest shoulder research institute in the world - QUASR (Qld Unit for Advanced Shoulder Research).

Right here in Queensland, Ashish is using hologram - virtual technology (VR) to replicate shoulder reconstructions. This is not happening anywhere else in the world.

Through his start-up - ‘Akunah’ he wants to see this incredible technology help more people.

And he’s working towards bringing the World’s largest conference of orthopaedic and shoulder surgeons to Queensland.

Through our Advance Queensland program and today’s Investment Roundtable in Logan with Treasurer Cameron Dick MP we are working with Ashish and innovators to grow their business and secure more events in our state.
