Stunning Cinque Terre!

Here are 5 facts you may not know:

1. The Italian words 'Cinque Terre' translates to five lands.
Which refers to the five beautiful cliffside villages - Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola & Riomaggiore (A UNESCO World Heritage Site)

2. The entire area is Italy's Oldest National Park.

3. It's a Car-Free Zone. You can either hike, train or boat between each of the towns.
If you are on a self-drive holiday around Italy, there are free park and ride spots in nearby La Spezia.

4. The Statue of the Giant near Monterosso was built in 1910, made from reinforced concrete and iron. It originally was a gift from Giovanni Pastine to his beloved Juanita. Now that's a grand gesture of love!

5. There are 382 steps in the Lardarina Staircase connecting the train station to the beach of Cornigilia.

Time to check the expiry date on your passport!

Australian passports are going up by 15% on July 1, 2024. If your passport is up for renewal or you need a new one, now is the time to do it!

Additionally, a new fast-track system for passport applications will be available starting in July. Applications can be processed within five business days for a $100 fee. This is a great option if you need a new passport fast but don’t need the 48-hour turnaround, which currently costs $252.

During my expedition cruise from Darwin to Broome, we had an incredible encounter with humpback whales swimming alongside our zodiacs. Being so near to these magnificent creatures was a truly surreal and unforgettable moment. 🛳️🐋
