Who remembers the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure at Hollywood Studios (previously MGM Studios)?

This was a play area located in Disney's MGM Studios within Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Situated in the Streets of America, it was inspired by Disney's 1989 movie, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. 🔬

This attraction closed in April 2016 to pave the way for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which in my opinion was a pretty fair trade off 🌑

🧱🫢 If you blink, you just might miss the slightly concealed entrance to Diagon Alley on your first trip to Universal Studios. To be fair though, IT IS SO IMMERSIVE! These Muggles really put every ounce of magic into making this passage way into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter incredibly authentic. Seeing is believing, and even then, it feels like absolute magic.

📚🪄Sure, the Hogwarts Castle is magical in a jaw dropping way. Hogsmeade is cozy and makes you feel every bit like a first year. BUT…Diagon Alley takes on a life of its own. From the goblins in Gringotts (so real) to Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes and of course the creepy darkness that is Borgin & Burkes will have you looking over your shoulder and clutching your house robes. What part of Diagon Alley hits the hardest for you during your visits? 🧙‍♂️💰🐦‍⬛🐉

My personal fave is the coconut Dole Whip, and I love bringing it into Walt Disney Enchanted Tiki Room to enjoy an icon treat while watching an icon show.

🦈⏳🦍Who remembers visiting Universal Orlando way back BEFORE the Wizarding World cast its spell over both parks? What are some of your fondest, nostalgic Universal attractions? 💙💛 Which would you bring back..and which would you offer up on the chopping block?

🙄 I’m not sure how so many misconceptions began about Universal Orlando Resort. For one, the parks aren’t just for big kids & adults. There really is something for everyone. 🤩

👉 Secondly, and you’re going to want to lean in & hear this, you do NOT have to be a Potterhead to enjoy the attractions & theming of the Wizarding World. You can walk in not having read a single book or seen any of the movies and enjoy being an honorary Muggle. What other Universal myths can I clear up for you? I have a somewhat controversial statement to make.

I think I might prefer the cookies at the new Summer House on the Lake ☀️ over those at Gideons Bakehouse 🦇.

Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore the gothic atmosphere at Gideons, I even collect the character cards and have a bunch of spooky merchandise from there. However, the cookies at Summerhouse, especially the Lemon cookie 🍋, were just incredibly delicious. 😋

Both spots are located at Disney Springs, and honestly, the cookies at both places are fantastic. Yet, if I had to choose just one, I'd go for Summerhouse! ☀️

⏳🤠Here’s a piece of Disneyland history that you might not have heard. Walt and Lillian Disney celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary at the Golden Horseshoe just days before the official grand opening of the park in 1955! 🎭 Through 1986, the popular Golden Horseshoe R***e stage show was performed here. (Think Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical R***e on a smaller scale.) Walt loved the wild west vaudeville show so much, he invited 300 people to attend the first official performance as part of an anniversary celebration! 😍
🍔🍟 Today, the Golden Horseshoe is a two-level quick service oasis in the heart of Frontierland serving typical theme park fare. At Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, the very similar Diamond Horsehoe is a sit-down restaurant serving the menu from Liberty Tree Tavern.

When organizing Disney adventures with young ones and checking out ride height restrictions, you might have a moment of concern. "Will there be enough for them to enjoy?" "Will they have a blast?" The answer is a resounding yes! Never underestimate the appeal of the splash and play areas at Walt Disney World. 🌺🪘⛰️Beyond the attractions in Pandora-The World of Avatar, the stunning landscape and interactive plant life are what truly make this land unforgettable. 🌿🌌 (OK, maybe the Night Blossom drink, too🍹.)
From floating mountains to responsive flora and gorgeous waterfalls to tree drums, there’s so much to explore, photograph and touch! It truly is a wondrous land-one you don’t have to see either of the movies to totally fall in love with. 🌟🌿💚

This area of Animal Kingdom comes to life once the sun goes down, everything transforms with glowing bioluminescent colour! Definitely worth seeing before you head out of the park for the evening. ! 🌟

🦁🌳 If you’re a first time visitor to Animal Kingdom, be sure to make two stops into Pandora, one during the day ☀️and then again at night 🌙, when the world of Avatar truly comes to life! Pandora fans, what advice do you have for a first timer? 🤔💬

Admittedly, I initially found the flavor combination of the Outpost Popcorn mix from Kat Saka's Kettle Corn a bit unusual, but once I tried it, I was pleasantly surprised! 🍿

Situated in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios, this mix of blueberry, lemon, sweet chili, and lime will take your taste buds on an outer space adventure! It's reminiscent of a spicy version of Fruity Pebbles or Fruit Loops.🫐🍋🌶️🍋‍🟩

🦹‍♂️🧁🍌Even super villains need a sweet treat every now and then! When you’ve finished blasting away the competition at Villain-Con Minion Blast, go reward yourself with a deliciously moist and sweet cake pop at Bake My Day. The flavors all scream “MINION.” If your inner minion also loves banana, you’re going to need to snag the banana cream pie cake pop! What do you think-is this a banaNAAH for you or a big YES!

😬Do you know when Walt Disney World crowds can be the most manageable? During some of the hottest months of the year! 🥵 If you can handle the heat, here are some of the best places and some ways to avoid as Mater says, “dang near fainting”:

Connections Eatery at EPCOT: This place is massive and a great place to sit and regroup, AND it has Starbucks! 🧋

Upper level of PizzeRizzo at Hollywood Studios: Did you know there was an upper level?! There’s usually not many people up there, it’s nice and cool, there are lots of outlets to recharge your devices, and pizza! 🍕

Cooling neck towels: A lifesaver when the sun is bearing down and moods are starting to wilt. 🥀

A solid touring strategy: Rope drop, rest mid-day, come back for evenings (and schedule a table-service lunch for a break during the hottest time of day) 📝

📌 One last tip: work with ME! I know exactly how hot it gets, where to go, what to do and when to do it so everyone keeps smiling and having fun!

Sharing about FREE and FUN just never gets old. 🥳 At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and others (just ask when you check in if available at yours) there is a daily character hunt offered. 🔎Each day the resort’s mascot character is moved. Once you find it, take a photo with it and head to the front desk for your button and a location sticker. Search high and low each day for four days to fill your button with stickers. 🎉
