Goderich Tourism Welcome! This account will keep residents and visitors up to date on experiences and events. Why is Goderich called Canada's Prettiest Town?
(58)

Legend has it that a relative of Queen Victoria once visited Goderich and told her what a beautiful town it was, whereupon Queen Victoria stated, "Surely that must be the prettiest town in Canada!"

Today, September 30th, Goderich Tourism reflects on our journey of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada and celebrates those who keep our Native Land. Today is a day in which we give thanks for the gifts our home brings us and the people who are the stewards of this land.

The Town of Goderich has the privilege of being within the Traditional Territory of the Attawandaron and Ojibway peoples. This land is covered by Treaty 29 of 1827, and in the lands protected by the Dish With One Spoon agreement.

We recognize that Indigenous peoples have been using and caring for this land since time immemorial. We are grateful for their past and ongoing stewardship of the lands and waters, and wish to show them our respect today.

The people of Goderich are committed to addressing the historic and present injustices of colonialism. We acknowledge Indigenous peoples must be included and consulted on matters that impact their lands and waters, and strive to build strong relationships grounded on collaboration, respect, and trust.

This week is the first fall installment of the Livery Film Fest offerings, and this week you won't want to miss 'Ghostlight' on Thursday, September 26 at the Park Theatre Goderich in Goderich.

‘Ghostlight’ is a drama about a troubled family dealing with a trauma. The father, Dan, a burly construction worker with a hot temper, stumbles upon a low-budget community theatre troupe rehearsing ‘Romeo and Juliet and gets recruited to fill the role of Romeo. This story shows how one family heals through art and community.

The cast are actual family members. Mother (Tara Mallen), father (Keith Kupferer) and their teenaged daughter’s (Katherine Mallen Kupferer) performances are authentic, heartfelt and deeply moving.

Reviewers are giving this film a top rating and 100% on the Tomatometer.

Park Theatre is located at 30 Goderich Square. Doors open at 6:30 for showtime 7:00pm.
