I-Saturdays-Visit Addis Ababa’s Market with Us
Saturday is the main market day in many part of Ethiopia. The markato and the other major market in Addis Ababa would be warm and attractive on Saturdays.
10:00-Meeting at La Gar-Cafee Choche (a Café at the Old Rail way station-
10:00-10:30-General introduction of what we are going to visit today the place of this markets in the life of the Ethiopians
with prices and other details list of items, names of local herbs etc. Place of Muslims in trade in Ethiopia
10:30-11:00-Drive to Merkato and start your one hour walk of the market at the Mosque electronics, Muslim religious books and medicine, then Raguel- where we see Christian religious books, umbrellas church bells etc, then the modern Adarash, then Shera Tera, then Chat market, then Minalesh tera, kocho, basket, coffee, species and pulses, the coffee pots, recycled plastic and metals and walk to Teklehaymanot.
13:00 stop at Lucy Restaurant for lunch, comfort stop and break
14:30-Drive to the Shiro Meda textile and other markets - learn who the weavers are and how they make it and how they make living-if you like you can shop
15:30-Drive to Shola Market- relatively smaller market than merkato but important in Addis Ababa history. In this part we include tej bet and local liquor houses would be included areke tella etc.
17:00-End of the tour you will be driven to 4 Kilo where our service ends or you may like to leave the bus any place you want. Maximum group size 6 minimum 3

II-Sunday Walking tour of visiting Monuments in Addis Ababa
9:00-Meeting Up place at 4 Kilo
9:00-9:30-visit and talk of the monument at 4 kilo-also talk about the landmarks around such as the Minstry of education, the University, the first, modern school, Jolly Bar
9:30-9:50-Walk to the 6 Kilo Monument
9:50-10:20- visit and talk-also talk about landmark near by the University former palace of Haile-Sillasse, the Hospital renamed-Read and give them copy of graphic description of the massacre-but finally highlight that there is no hostility to Italians-Salini is building a grand dam in Ethiopia
10:3:20-10:40-Walk to the Ras Mekonin bridge- talk about the father of Haile Sillasse
10:40-11:10-Talk about this place- the significance of this man, the bridge and other bridge in Addis- and problem of river in Addis Ababa (may be with maps) where they drain to, the importance of Awash
11:10-11:30-Walk to Minilik Square (uphill)-
11:30-12:00-Talk about Minilik and the battle of Adwa
12:00-12:20-Walk to a Restaurant in Piazza for lunch may be in front of Lion pharmacy
12:20-14:00-Lunch break
14:00-14:20-Walk to the Tewodros squre 14:20-14:50-talk about the canon and the Emperor-his ambition, his end
14:50-15:20-Walk on Churchill Avenue passing the Lyce, Black Lion hospital to the Victory monument
15:20-15:50-Talk about the monument, the revolution, the war with Somalia, the communist era (include the Black Lion hospital and its former name in the talk)
15:50-16:10-Walk to the National Theatre Lion Monument-
16:50-16:20-Talk about when and how the lion was commissioned- and what Haile Sillasse allegedly said- also talk about the national theatre and former Hiale Sillasse theatre-name and discuss the theater
16:20-16:40- Walk to La Gar
16:40-17:20- View the Lion of Juda and talk about its origin and history and when in history the lion of Juda the term began to be used
17:20-18:00- Sit for coffee at Café Choche for refection (end of the tour)
-As it is walking tour, depending the number and fitness of the participants it may be shorter or longer
-For the talks and walk in the vicinity of a monument 30 minutes is assigned and sometime would be allotted to questions and answers (it may take shorter or longer)
