Aurora alert! Multiple Coronal Mass Ejections are due to strike Earth within 12-48hrs, arriving on the night of 10/11/12 May 2024, and/or a bit later. Aurora storm is quite likely - the question is "how big it will be"? Aurora can reach G2-G4 levels, meaning auroras could be visible at mid-latitudes in Europe and the US. The Sun is most active now since 2003 so this could be a rare chance to spot them at quite southern locations. More info at swpc.nooa.gov

Last night was one of the most incredible auroras in my 11-year aurora hunting career. RED auroras visible for almost an hour! Following the arrival of a strong Coronal Mass Ejection. Worth a 20 hour / 2000 km roadtrip from Rovaniemi to Norway and back!

Big storm! This is how it looks like! We have amazing aurora forecast in the next couple of days - a solar flare has erupted, bringing a Coronal Mass Ejection directly towards Earth. Will we be able to see it? It is a bog question mark, as the weather forecast is super cloudy, but if there is a chance, we will certainly try!
