***REUNITED WITH OWNERS***

Can everyone in the Glenshee area of Perth & Kinross please look out for this lovely boy!

He went missing at around 12PM today (26/07/14) from Glas Moal, Glenshee. He was about 2 1/2 hours into his walk between two summits when hr went missing. He is chipped and wearing a red collar and harness.

He can sometimes be a little bit unsure of other dogs but loves humans.

He may try and make his way down the the hill to where his owner is parked, just down from Glenshee Ski centre.

His owner is still on the hill and has a poor phone reception. Any information please call us immediately on 07432 368 792.

Thank you ❀️🐾

***UPDATE***

Handsome Oban has been safely reunited with his mum! A huge thank you everyone for all your help and support ❀️🐾

Yesterday our keepering team attended a very informative Muirburn course ran by Bright Spark Burning Techniques

They were learning and brushing up on different ways to control muirburn from using back burning techniques, beasums, leaf blowers and fogging units which are the most effective and safest way for keepers to contain fires.

Thanks again to Calum and Iain at Bright Sparks Burning Techniques for a great day πŸ”₯

We are delighted to announce the promotion of one of our most dedicated team members. This week Alaine Michie takes on her role as Trainee Hotel Operations Manager.

Since starting at Dalmunzie Castle Hotel in early 2020 Alaine has gained experience in all departments from reception and restaurant to kitchen and garden.

Alaine shows personal pride in her work, has a willingness to learn and a can-do attitude that naturally leaves our team looking to her for guidance.

We asked Alaine why she enjoys working at Dalmunzie and this is what she had to say.

β€œWe have so many interesting guests. I enjoy finding out about their travel plans, what brought them to Dalmunzie and giving recommendations on places to visit in the area”

Congratulations, well done and keep up the hard work!

Happy Birthday to our lovely hotel receptionist KarenπŸŽ‚.

What better way to celebrate than receiving a traveller review award from Booking.comπŸŽ‰. We are delighted that our review ratings are improving, not only on booking.com but on other websites too. Thank you to the rest of our team, we could not provide the service that we do without your dedication and hard work.

It also helps when our guests are as lovely and supportive as they have been.

Look at these wonderful colours! Prince famously wrote a song about purple rain but we think someone should pen a tribute to the highlands’ purple heather!

Any takers for the challenge?

We are looking to recruit an experienced bartender for our country house hotel. The ideal candidate would have good gin, whisky and wine knowledge and be keen to learn more. We like for our staff to develop and unless already qualified then we would put our bartender through the appropriate, PLH and WSET qualifications. Minimum salary of Β£10.75 per hour, depending on experience, with monthly achievable bonuses based on sales and GP. Due to the location of the hotel having your own transport would be preferable however we are good at lift sharing and making sure that days off are structured so that you can get into town.

Our Hotel staff have all been taking part in a step challenge since reopening πŸ₯Ύ. Thank goodness there are so many beautiful walks on our doorstep, as the competition was fierce! We are delighted to announce that Megan, our lovely waitress won πŸ†, with a whopping 508,330 steps over 28 days. Megan showed pure determination, volunteering for split shifts and was taking long walks during her breaks to ensure she was over 80,000 steps ahead of the runner up 😳. Congratulations Megan, you are a star and the trophy is so very well deserved! πŸ₯‡

In the face of continued concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic, Braemar Royal Highland Charity and the organising committee of the Braemar Gathering have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

In line with the vast majority of Highland Games planned in Scotland this year the organisers of the Braemar Gathering feel that the decision to cancel is the best one in the interests and safety of the local community, competitors, spectators and officials, many of whom travel from around the world to the annual Gathering in Braemar.

While vaccination programmes are having a huge positive impact on the Covid-19 virus there is still concern over restrictions that may be imposed on major events. Unfortunately considerable event planning decisions and actions have to be taken months ahead of the gathering while such restrictions are still unknowns.

David Geddes President of the Braemar Royal Highland Society said
"This has been an extremely difficult decision to make. To cancel a Gathering is something which I had hoped I would never have to do in my time as President. Now, to cancel for a second year is heart-breaking. However, there is still uncertainty surrounding the spread of the virus and we must put the wellbeing of our community, visitors and volunteers first.

We know the gathering is a highlight in many people’s year and an event which many make plans for well in advance. We share everyone’s disappointment and offer our hope and thoughts that you stay well and keep safe as the pandemic moves into what we hope is the final phase. As I said last year, like the hills around Braemar, the gathering will be here next year, and we look forward to happier times and to welcoming you back to Braemar on September 3, 2022.”

While the Braemar Junior Highland games, scheduled for July 24 this year, have also been cancelled we hope that the spirit of the games can still be shared with plans in place - restrictions permitting - to open the Highland Games Visitor Centre in Braemar over the coming months, initially for pre-booked parties only with updates at www.highlandgamescentre.org

If you have already bought a ticket for this year’s Gathering these will be honoured and valid for 2022 so please keep them, this includes arena car parking and Pavilion tour tickets. If you wish to discuss a refund or donating your order to the charity please contact the bookings secretary at [email protected]

For any other questions, please contact the Gathering organisers at [email protected]
