One of the county’s prettiest seaside destinations, Deal is our town focus for June. It’s here where quaint fishermen's cottages rub shoulders with well-preserved Georgian townhouses and there’s a chance you’ll see France on a clear day. There’s lots of historic places to explore and a thriving arts scene…don’t miss our round-up of the Deal Festival in July! Award Winning Holiday Accommodation at Hawthorn Farm
Back in September 2016, my husband Steve and I made the leap into the (relative) unknown, waved goodbye to our consultancy businesses, and escaped to the Kentish countryside! The first coupe of momths was a steep leaning curve... we quickly learnt about looking after donkeys, renovating and refreshing holiday cottages, managing a new business and maintaining nearly 4 acres of gardens and paddocks!
It has been a lot of fun, and quite exhausting at times, but never once have we regretted making the move. To be able to wakeup everyday, surrounded by nature and the changing landscape through the seasons is absolute bliss... we are still pinching ourselves, and ever more delighted that we can share this little slice of the Garden of England with our guests. The two most wonderful things we love to hear from them are:
On arrival: “Oh, we could happily live here”
and
On leaving: “We have had such a lovely time, enjoying the open space and soaking up the peace and tranquility of the place!”
Of course,we couldn’t have managed all that we have, without our fabulous team who help with housekeeping, maintenance and animal care. We’ve been very lucky to find a group of very dedicated local people who love coming to work here, and who do a great job keeping Hawthorn Farm looking great for our guests to enjoy.
The spring/summer season at Hawthorn Farm is always very busy, but we have guests from all over the world coming to stay in our cottages throughout the year... Over the past three and a half years, we’ve welcomed people from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland, Australia, Bermuda, USA, Canada... coming for a vaiety of reasons: a holiday, for work, to visit friends/family in the area, for a reunion, to take part in golfing tournaments, to attend a wedding, to get married - as well as guests who live closer to home (Ramsgate, Wingham, Dover) who need a comfy place to stay between house moves or while essential works are carried out on their own homes.
In March 2020 we were absolutely thrilled to be recognized “amongst the best hotels in the United Kingdom” by HotelsCombined.
“Hawthorn Farm Cottages has consistently produced a high satisfaction rating among guests and travel industry experts. Hawthorn Farm Cottages has received 125 reviews and earned an impressive guest rating of 9 out of 10 on HotelsCombined. Hawthorn Farm Cottages now joins an elite group of hotels around the world that have been awarded the HotelsCombined Recognition of Excellence. This exclusive collection of highly-rated accommodations has been chosen using a strict set of criteria such as the quality and consistency of reviews, the absence of recurring or unresolved issues with customers, popularity of the property and of course, the overall resulting score.”
Looking ahead, we continue to be commtted to making further improvements to the cottages and grounds at Hawthorn Farm, and we hope to welcome even more guests throughout the coming year. There are so many reasons to fall in love with this little corner of Kent, and we hope you’ll come and find out for yourself very soon!
