Gregg Memorials is a small, independent, family-run, Manx firm, which specialises in the manufacture of granite and marble headstones and the renovation of existing graves, in every churchyard and cemetery on the Isle of Man. We offer a professional and personal service to clients who appreciate a superior service from an independent, family-run business. Now based in Braddan (one mile from Dougla

s), the company was founded originally by David Gregg in the 1970s and the skills and expertise were carried on by Steve (David’s nephew) in 2005. Steve is helped by his two employees, Darren and Peddyr. On our website, you will find more information and some examples to help you begin the process of choosing a headstone that is a true representation of what was important in the life of your deceased spouse, relative or friend, and what you felt about them. We do not provide a brochure as there are too many possible combinations of sizes, colours and styles of memorials and grave accessories. We have the skills and the machinery to alter the stone you choose and will advise you about the churchyard regulations in place at that particular time. We recommend that you phone or email us to make an appointment to come in and discuss your particular requirements. There is ample parking in front of the workshop and a chairlift to the office and showroom. If you find it difficult to leave the house, you can arrange a home visit.

Whilst erecting this memorial in the Douglas lawn cemetery yesterday, Nigel and Jed were were being watched as this Robin flew around them.

Once Mrs Capelen’s memorial was completed the Robin sat on top and posed for photos.

People often say “Robins appear when loved ones are near” we hope that’s true and that they love our work as much as we love doing it.

With grateful thanks to Mr Capelen for allowing us to share the photo. He also advised that his Mum loved robins ❤️

We have been busy adding a new inscription to a limestone memorial, with the font drawn to match the original inscription.

This memorial and font was originally completed and designed by my Uncle David and was his own interpretation of an Archibald Knox design.

The purpose of this post is to let you know that we can match any font that you may require.

And just like that, it’s Christmas again.

This year we have had the honour of working on many memorials and have also met some amazing people along the way.

We have welcomed new team members to the Gregg Memorials family, and we were delighted to yet again be nominated for the Best Business Guide.

We would like to thank all our customers for placing their trust in us, without our customers recommending our services we would not be where we are today.

I would also like to thank my amazing team Nigel, Jed and Sarah for all their hard work in 2023.

We are now closed for an extended and well deserved break and we will re open at 8.30am Monday 8th January

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2024 🎅 🎄 🎅🎄🎅🎄

Bit of pitching at the workshop this morning on a memorial and if the weather gets better hopefully we can letter and erect the memorial before Christmas.

Pitching is the process of using a hammer and specific chisel to remove material and leave a rough natural finish

When our customer asked for a photo of Langness Lighthouse to be etched on their loved ones memorial we were very happy to help - we even took the photo.

*Langness Lighthouse was engineered by David and Thomas Stevenson and the light was first exhibited in December 1880. Many changes have occurred since: the fog signal was discontinued in 1987 and the lighthouse was automated in 1996.

I’m spending the morning with this great guy, he was a good friend and a brilliant rider.
His dad Alex asked me to regild the lettering and unfortunately add his wife Sheila to the memorial

Really pleased to be involved with this project and I am reassured the hand is facing the correct direction.

Due to increased workload, we are looking to take on a General Labourer for concreting work (strip foundations and concrete grave surfaces mainly) and removing and resetting memorial stones around the Island.

But as a small business you could easily also find yourself assisting the Memorial Masons with all sorts of work associated with the manufacture of memorials.

Which can include but not limited to: - cutting, polishing, inscriptions, sandblasting, painting, and general duties.

This is a full-time position, with a long-established family business, working from our premises in IOM Business Park, Braddan.

Please note our working hours are Tuesday to Saturday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm

The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a small team, have a flexible attitude, punctual, reliable, good communication skills, attention to detail is critical and a willingness to learn.

Some experience of building work would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.

A full clean driving licence is essential for this role.

Interested? In the first instance, please send your CV to [email protected]

We are regularly asked by our customers to assess a family memorial, in one of the many cemeteries and Churchyards around the Island.

Often the customer doesn’t know the plot number and sometimes their descriptions of how to find it are sometimes ambiguous like ..
“it’s just up by the tap”

SNA Software Systems have included what3words on our system so when you next visit the memorial of your loved ones, use that free app to give you the 3 words that relate to exactly where you are then we can find it very easily, when and if we need to.

The 3 words to find our workshop on the app are shown below
