Arriving at Hillockhead the panoramic seaviews are all around you as far as the eye can see. You get a real feeling of space and light that almost has a healing quality, ideal for recharging your batteries and escaping the hectic pace of life. The cottages are situated on the Black Isle which is renowned for its scenic beauty and mild dry climate where pretty villages and lovely beaches wait to be
discovered. This area of the scottish highlands is a haven for wild life, birds, wild flowers and sea life, including Britain's largest school of wild dolphins, which can even be seen from your holiday cottage. There are seven self-catering cottages with between one and three bedrooms situated on a 160 acre farm of woodland glens and grazing land, overlooking the Moray Firth. If you fancy something different, we now have a campervan available for hire. Newly converted to a high standard the 4wd camper sleeps 4 people and is fully kitted out with everything you will need to explore the surrounding area in the comfort of your "mobile" home. Why not have a week at Hillockhead followed by a week of touring the area, staying at lovely campsites or off the road in a spot you choose to call home for the night! Enjoy walks from your door step through woody glens beautiful in every season. Walk up the hillock and be amazed by the glittering blue sea below, continue to the steep but stepped footpath which leads to a secluded beach with sand, rock pools and fossil beds. See the Moray Firth dolphins in the sea below or whilst walking along the shore, or go to nearby Chanonry Point, the best place in Britain (some say the world!) for dolphin watching, recently made famous by TV programmes such as "Coast" and "Spring watch". There are about 130 Moray Firth dolphins and also a large colony of seals, in addition to many seabird colonies and resident red kites. There is so much to do and see that a week will not be long enough, there are many places to visit in the immediate area and activities to enjoy such as walking, cycling, pony treking and golf. Hillockhead is also a great base for touring the Highlands, castles, distilleries, lochs, mountains, glens and wilderness can all be explored on a day out. The Black Isle has some great places to eat out, you could also have a local chef bring food to your cottage or choose from the "take away" menu at a local bistro. Come and discover "highland time" in this magical place, enjoy all it has to offer even if it is doing nothing at all!
