Raw wilderness and stunning scenery for this clients retirement celebration 🍾

After a successful career as a chemical engineer, my client wanted to celebrate with his son with a trip to Svalbard an otherworldly destination. Set high in the Arctic Ocean, the remote Svalbard archipelago extends between 74 and 81° north, about halfway between Tromsø in Norway and the North Pole. It is the northernmost place in Europe, and is the farthest north you can travel by scheduled flight.🛫

Here is a brief summary of the excursions they did on their trip so you can get a feel for a trip to Svalbard!

Dreaming of staying on a farm estate that’s committed to sustainability? 🌱⬇️

In a wild corner of the Alentejo, Portugal there sits a remarkable hotel of unpretentious luxury. Set on a 780 hectare estate, this incredible property has been in the same family for over 200 years.

In 2016 it opened as an unassuming luxury hotel, surrounded by vineyards, ancient oaks and olive trees, that also comprises two farm-to-table restaurants, a winery, a spa, horse stables, and a farm shop that sells the various products grown on the estate.

🌱Sustainability was a key concern in every aspect of the estate’s rejuvenation project. During the construction stage, the whole project was designed with due regard for the region’s materials and architecture, always favouring the work and expertise of local artisans and suppliers, saving from derelict this 19th-century building complex.

Everything just comes together so perfectly here. The light, the trees, the architecture, the friendly staff, the food and spa. I recommend adding it to the top of your wishlist immediately.

Read all about my honeymoon & the life lesson I learnt ⇩ ⇩

From one of the very first conversations I had with my husband, he gushed about wanting to see gorillas in the wild. A destination that wasn’t necessarily on my radar however seeing more of Africa definitely was.

At the time I was working for a group tour operator but given my travel background, I decided to take on the task of booking it myself.

Suddenly, I quickly found myself down the rabbit hole of holiday planning…

❓What Visa’s do we need?
❓What’s a gorilla visa?
❓What parts of the country should we visit?
❓Should we go with ground transfer time or internal flights

The list went on…

Then when I finally found the perfect lodge however there was another issue….They didn’t take direct bookings so in the end I had to find a tour guide who could book my dream itinerary.

Almost there…except I still had to manage multiple hotel bookings, international wire transfers and cancelled internal flights. It all fell on me…all while I was trying to enjoy the lead up to my dream wedding in Tuscany. 👰‍♀️🤵

Ciaran & I had such an amazing honeymoon full adventure & incredible experiences however I learnt a huge lesson in all of this;

⏰Your time is the ultimate luxury. The weeks before your wedding should be exciting – if a little fraught at times – but your honeymoon shouldn’t add to the load.

You should set off on your trip secure in the knowledge that every detail - even the ones you wouldn’t have thought of yourself - has been taken care of. That there is an expert who’s a phone call away to smooth out any challenges (like the cancelled flights in our case!).

You're going to want to save this one! James & Anna's South Africa Wineland, beach and safari honeymoon

When in initial honeymoon planning discussions with clients, I do get incredibly excited when they say they would like to do something a bit different than your average honeymoon. This is my queue to suggest marrying 2 destinations that they might not have considered on the same holiday. Here is an itinerary at a glance of what these newlyweds did on their trip of a lifetime honeymoon!

Itinerary Highlights:

🥾 Hiked up Table Mountain, watching the sunset over Cape Town
🍷 Raised a glass to married life on a tour of the Cape Winelands
🐘 Spotted the Big Five on an unforgettable South African safari
🏝 Enjoyed a romantic candle-lit dinner on a private Seychelles island beach
🤿 Snorkeled around the crystal-clear waters of an island paradise

Is there ever a bad time to visit the Greek islands? I would say that really depends on the vibe you’re after! Read my thoughts below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

First I would say, to not be fooled by the latest travel influencer flaunting their jaw dropping vistas with not a person in sight. Quite often these influencers are waking up at the crack of dawn (when it’s still dark!!) to get the perfect shot. The streets start to get busy at 9am!.

July and August are the busiest and most expensive months to visit and this is also when it’s best for nightlife 💃🏼 and beach 🍹parties so if this isn’t what you are looking for in your holiday I would avoid these months!

My personal favourite months are June & September where blue skies are guaranteed most days, the daily temperatures aren’t too high and tourists numbers are manageable.
