**Meet the team!**

Our new store manager John has been with STA 6 Years and started with STA as a travel expert in Oxford. He has managed our amazing St Albans and Shoreditch stores too.

His first solo trip was back in 2006 when he Interrailed his way around Europe taking in 22 capitals in 3 months.

He then want on to travel South East Asia in 2008 on his way to Australia where he took advantage of his first working holiday visa and lived in Melbourne for 12 months and toured the east coast with Oz Experience. On his way home he visited New Zealand using the Kiwi Experience and then on to Fiji with Awesome Adventures Fiji. He still says this was his favorite 2 months of all his travels.

John has since traveled to Central and South America, North America, Canada (eventually) and is constantly visiting Europe on weekend breaks. His most recent trip to Quito and the Galapagos with G Adventures has now taken him over 60 countries on his scratch map and next on his list is Botswana with G Adventures.

From the nightlife of Kuta to sunset swings on Gili T, Bali has something for everyone and Balintro does it best!

Starting in lively Kuta you will meet up the rest of your group before heading south to see Uluwatu Temple before relaxing for the rest of the day on Padang Padang Beach. In the evening you will get to experience some of Kuta's crazy nightlife!

To help you wake up in the morning, you will be treated to a surf lesson before making your way up to Canggu where you can literally step out your room into the pool!

Before staying for the next two nights in their private villa you will visit Tanah lot temple, have lunch at one of the rice paddies, explore Pura Ulun Danu Bratan and mess around at Git Git waterfalls.

During your stay at the Villa you will cruise around looking for dolphins and visit a local family who will treat you to lunch and teach you about their local farming. After this you spend the afternoon relaxing at the villa before heading down to the beach for dinner!

The next day you head off to Gili T where you will get the opportunity to; swim with turtles on a island hopping snorkeling trip, cycle around the island before stopping off to take a photo at the famous Gili T swings (The 8N tour ends in Gili T and your guide will be able to help you organise onward travel to your next destination).

After 3 amazing days on Gili T you travel to Ubud where you; explore the monkey forest and interact with it's occupants, hike up to the top of Mount Batur, to watch the sunrise before hiking back down and getting a traditional Balinese massage

** Country Spotlight - Colombia**

From the bustling streets of Bogota to pristine beaches at Tayrona National Park, Colombia is one of the backpacker hot spot's to visit in South America!

As you arrive into Cartagena, one of the most colorful cities in Colombia, you can relax on the beach or have a wander around the old town, immersing yourself in Spanish colonial history.

As you head west you arrive at Tayrona National Park, which boasts some of the best beaches in the country which you can camp on and watch the sun come up. It is also one of the the gateway's to hike up to the lost city!

As you travel up into the surrounding hills of Santa Marta you arrive at Minca from which you can hike to waterfall's as well as spend the night chilling in Casa Elemento Hostel where you can chill in a giant hammock over looking the forest all the way down to the beach in the north!

One of the best days in Colombia can be spent at Palamino where you can go from drinking Pina Colada's on the beach to tubing down the river taking in the scenery and the sounds of the forest either side.

As you arrive into the city of Medellin, home to the famous Drug Lord, Pablo Escabar, you can jump on a trip to Guatape that takes you out to Escabar's second home where you can paintball for a price! Or exploring the view point gives you a birds eye view of the home.

Ever thought that a country that is as tropical as Colombia would have a desert, it does! Explore the desert on motorbikes and camp out in hammocks before heading north to catch a flight from Bogota.

On the road....

Ever wondered what life is like at the end of the world? Have a look at our Travel Expert Becca's trip in Patagonia with Dragoman!

Flying into Buenos Aires to spend some time in the Argentine capital, tangoing in the streets and sampling some of the Argentine culture before heading down to Ushuaia, the end of the world!

From Penguins to Glaciers, Ushuaia boasts some of the greatest scenery and wildlife experiences in the world all mixed in one!

As she works her way north to her final destination, Santiago, Becca has hiked one of the toughest circuits in South America, the, W walk! Along this route, Becca got to experience camping and cooking in the snowy mountain range before arriving at hidden lakes only accessible by foot!

As Becca works her way up across the border into Chile she will encounter more picturesque views and mountain towns before relaxing in Santiago enjoying Chilean wine and steak!

**Country Spotlight - Sri Lanka**

As Sri Lanka becomes more popular for backpackers and holiday makers let us immerse you in some of the amazing things that you can do and see there!

When you land into the Capital city of Colombo, spend a day or two exploring the imposing National museum and the giant Buddha before heading off to Kandy where you can visit the incredible Sigiriya which at it's peak has an old fort that you can hike up to! Also in Kandy you can visit the Temple of the Tooth and the underground cave complex of Dambulla!

As you head south down through Tea Country by train, giving you some amazing chances to snap photo's of the tea plantations before going to visit them from Badulla.

As you keep heading south from here, you come to the national parks Yala and Udawalawe. Although they both house similar animals including Crocodile's, Jackal's and everyone's favorite, Elephants, Udawalawe is the most popular due to some of the amazing accommodation that you have the opportunity to stay in, with visibility over watering holes from your breakfast table!

Like with any country, there is only one way to end, chilling on the beach which, Sri Lanka is not in short supply of! The best part about all of it as well you can still see some of the amazing culture from them!
