With some ‘After & Before’ pics of Mulberry Cottage, a two bedroom cottage in the picturesque village of Bowden (3 miles from Melrose) A super comfy property full of character and charm. Wonderful for those winter getaways!

This is my kind of Halloween!!!!No carving pumpkins for me but instead a flower arrangement!!! Goodness I am getting old 😖!!!
Empty the seeds, make a load of holes (I used a screwdriver) around the top of the pumpkin including the lid! Use some festive autumnal flowers and push the stems through the holes to create a sturdy flower display. Fill with water to cover the bottom of the stems. A more ‘sophisticated’ table decoration if celebrating this weekend!!!

The season is changing so why not embrace it with an escape to the countryside?! Autumn couldn’t be a more spectacular time of year with colours changing constantly. Our 3 properties here at Faldonside-The Lodge, The Studio & The Railway Carriage might just be the ideal getaway for fresh air & being close to nature.

Faldonside-we have been told it was one of Sir Walter Scott’s favourite landscapes and a place he loved to ride. We are so lucky to say he even designed some of the woodland here! A place to explore when staying. Walks galore with 2 lochs, Faldonside & Cauldshiels in walking distance from our 3 properties.

With the announcement here in Scotland yesterday, it’s looking like we will sadly not be re opening our doors to our self catering accommodation till the end of April.!!! Hang in there lovely guests!! We will be in touch with all of those to re arrange another date for you to stay. X

Some treasure found in the woods today. This old boat must have been used on Faldonside Loch many moons ago. I just love everything about it!

Faldonside Farmhouse sits in 500 acres of private land which is used for livestock over the summer months. It sits high above Melrose with exceptional views and our next door neighbour being Abbotsford House, former home of Sir Walter Scott. Why not come and stay and do some exploring for yourself!

We have had a vision for holding a Farmers Market here at Faldonside for a while & hopefully we will be able to when the right time comes! This room would be used as part of the market and adjacent to this a wall garden which is ideal for outdoor events. Most importantly it’s all about encouraging our local retailers from the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, East Lothian & Northumberland and have them all in one place where people can come together & shop locally. We certainly need something to look forward to!!! We are thinking of a laid back vibe with some live music, a pizza van for those hungry shoppers and plenty of food and drink stands to choose from. If there are any local producers who might be keen please do get in touch -we would love to hear from you and fingers crossed it won’t be too long till we can host our first event.

A shout out to this iconic British make . Without this, we certainly would be stuck!!! Nothing else has managed to get up here apart from this trusty vehicle. Not that I am quite brave enough to venture down the hill in it yet-I have left that to Pete! I am just staying put for the time being!

Just when the snow has melted, this wonderful carpet of snowdrops is revealed in all its glory. It may only be fleeting as more snow for tomorrow but they will be okay, they are hardy little things .....
