Honeymooners Ethan and Nicole made it over from Canada through the floods to the Rut today and were welcomed by a visit with our croft animals after their long drive.

Animal therapy is a thing and guests can get up close to our sheep horses and hens for that special experience

Mull is easily accessed for the day or longer from nearby Oban
However you may need to charter a boat to find this spot

We have amazing castles near The Rut cosy cabin.

Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel is ten minutes drive..
The castle dates back to the 13th century, making it one of Scotland's oldest stone castles✨

Guarding a strategic location, it was built by the MacDougall lords of Lorn, and has been held since the 15th century by the Clan Campbell. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

To this day there is a hereditary Captain of Dunstaffnage, although they no longer reside at the castle 🏰

Dunstaffnage is maintained by Historic Environment Scotland, and is open to the public.

This means you can experience inside as well as ouside these ancient stone walls

What makes a “base” for the best weekend away is the right place to get out and explore then cosy in at night to recoup before the next day’s adventure

Recent guests who I hadn’t seen for 35 years did just that cycling from the cabin up to Appin over to the island of Lismore then back across the sea to Oban before cycling back to “base”

Outdoor movie vibes last weekend for Rob and Hannah as they set up a movie on the deck with sunset backdrop. Snuggled with luxurious blankets hot water bottles red wine and chocolates what a better way to relax ☺️

Might invest in a projector to offer outdoor movies on the deck - but only if it”s dry!

We now have three sets of twin lambs which are thriving

How cute are their lambs 🥰

The Hebridean is a breed of small black sheep from Scotland, similar to other members of the Northern European short-tailed sheep group, having a short, triangular tail. They often have two pairs of horns.
