Introducing another one of our Local Artists, Woodturner Paul Fryer

Paul was introduced to woodturning from the age of 8 by his father, and it's a hobby that has continued ever since.

Paul enjoys playing with different ideas, colouring, pen turning, using alternative material and trying to show that not all woodturning has to be round!

As well as stocking Paul's work in our shop, he has been a regular over the past year at our Craft Fairs and will be at our Christmas Craft Fair on 7th December.

The Oken Tea Rooms on a glorious summer day☀️ The perfect place for a scone, slice of cake and a cup of tea! 🍰

The plaque on the outside of Oken Tea Rooms reads:

“Here lived Thomas Oken, a great benefactor to Warwick. He died here on the 29th July 1573“ (Now realising I should have done this post yesterday!)😄

Thomas Oken was a textile merchant in Warwick, Master of the Guild of the Holy Trinity and St George, Bailiff of Warwick and a burgess in the town Corporation.

He was a great benefactor to Warwick and left money to establish a charity which is still administered today. In his will, Oken also provided for the spending of £1 annually on a feast, preceded by a service at St. Mary’s. The annual feast still goes on to this day, during which a toast is always given to Thomas Oken’s memory.

Today we're shining the Local Artist spotlight on Our Craft Nook 🧸

'Our Craft Nook' is a small arts and crafts family business, where all the products are unique and handmade by Kamilla and her 3 children.

Kamilla has always loved dressing and accessorising tiny dolls and animals so when she was gifted a beginners needle felting kit she challenged herself to make felted teddy bears. Now she is also making hearts to tuck in the pocket of a loved one so they know how special they are 💝
