Autumn
Hello from Walk Dublin, hope you are enjoying November. As the evenings are drawing in the nights are longer, this makes the late Autumn days feel extra special. Why not come out and enjoy them with Walk Dublin? We can begin earlier in the day and make the most of the light
Hello from Walk Dublin,
Hope you are enjoying the lovely weather.
This building is named after a blackened Hall in South West England but is located in Dublin.
Do you think it is a school, a place for solicitors to train, an old army Barricks or a converted car dealership.
Let us know.

It is a glorious Easter Saturday and we hope that you are enjoying the long weekend.
Yet joy is muted by world events. All along O'Connell St the #ukraine flag is flying. It looks so similar to the Dublin Bus colours.
We were thinking back to whether Ireland has much of a connection to Ukraine and a tenuous link is that #Dublin and #kiev have the same official birth date.
Another connection was back in the 1860s when neither country was recognised as a Nation. There was a large land grab for the #Crimean peninsula as the Ottoman Empire was very slowly collapsing.
The Irish fought on all sides and there was a certain Lord #Raglan who was a healthy 80 something and was convinced that France was the enemy. His long memory took him back 50 years to #Napoleon s wars.

We are delighted to have our Blanchardstown correspondent filling us in on today's momentous discussions. If our eye on the ground had not been around we may have missed today's happening!
We have discovered that outdoor furniture has proved the perfect seat for what could be a new Ireland.
A tripartite agreement has been discussed today, in principle that should the island of Ireland be one economic, political, cultural and civic unit a new Capital is needed.
Many locations have been discussed and they muse whether Athlone is the answer? Well it is in the middle!
If the capital moves to Athlone, will this mean the end of a housing crisis in Dublin? Will it mean that no Embassies have vans driven into their gates? Or possibly all the new buildings in Athlone will be carbon neutral and the government offices will have a lovely Shannon view.

Hello from Walk Dublin, we are in a fuel worry time. So we have thought of a fun way to do your weekly shopping.... Why not take your holiday bag on a walk to the grocery store, fill your lungs with air as you divert through the nearest park.
Then pop the bag into the shopping trolley, fill the cart with just the amount you will be able to wheel home and feel like you have been on a mini break.
Take one journey less by ๐

Hello from Walk Dublin, we are so happy that you have contributed so many pictures and videos to decide whether November is Autumn or Winter.
We have concluded that the seasons are changing and November is now a Autumnal month... Possibly our calendar could reflect this.
We are trying to decide whose is the best contribution and here is a selection for you to help us with.

Hello from Walk Dublin, yes it is great to be busy, however organisational issues are coming to the fore๐ Sorry
We have had some really good tags for the competition to win a free Mostly Medieval tour on the 3rd of December. The prize is for up to 5 people, where you will get the sights, sounds and most importantly smells of a very different Dublin. Thanks so much for everyone who has already shared videos and stories and there is still time for anyone else who wants to get involved. Judging will happen on the 27th of November. This is an important day for Walk Dublin as it was the date that the company was founded ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐
The subject of the competition is whether November is Autumn or Winter as we classify November as Winter in Dublin but it seems to be Autumn for the last few weeks as the leaves are falling later and the Month has become milder than before. ๐โ

Hello from Walk Dublin. Hope you are enjoying the weekend. We have heard about a fun concept called #dialaseanachi or call a story teller.
Stories often mirror real life events and are a means of making sense of our world. Back in Gaelic Irish times chiefs would hire story tellers to record their life, great deeds and make them look braver, kinder, more valient and destined to be the chief.
Now that we are in October and the evenings are drawing in, we can close the curtains of the outside world and listen to stories of another time.
Thanks so much to Michael Duffy antiques for the mirror and if you want to see his range the shop is on Parnell Street, Dublin 1

At the Dublinn Gardens in Dublin Castle there are lots of designs on the grass. Some people say that they are good for helping helicopters to land.
Others feel that the designs were drawn by the Vikings to keep themselves busy on their first winter in Dublin.
Still more have suggested that the designers represent the snakes which St Patrick banished. They go on to say that these snakes representated the temptation which St Patrick endured during his 40 days and 40 nights of feasting.
What do you think that they mean?

Hello from Walk Dublin, we are running the Hidden History of Dublin Homes Tour every afternoon at 2 pm and the first tour is today.
The Tour is about Homes in Dublin and how the changes in use changed Dubliners lives. From gracious Georgian Townhouses to tenements Dwellings. We will see court houses and homes for Fruit and Veg. We will visit a religious house which was dissolved and the land used by developers. And lots more.
We are taking things very cautiously and there is a maximum of 6 people from three separate households.
Nearly finished the new booking system but for now, DM or what's app for booking details.

Hello from Walk Dublin, it is so nice to get out a bit further with the easing of restrictions.
Today we are in Maynooth, Co Kildare not far from Dublin. The town has a University dating to 1795 and was established to train priests.
The town is dominated by the Medieval structure of the Fitzgerald family. The site began as a defensive tower house and was extended to a castle in the 1200s.
The Fitzgerald family dominated Irish politics for centuries and the town house of one of their members is now the parliament of Ireland.
Hope you enjoy the sunny view.
