This is the official page of the Hurtigruten ship MS Polarlys 🚢 There are unparalleled views from almost every quarter of this stylish vessel.

MS Polarlys was built in 1996, and she is the third ship in Hurtigruten to have this name. Polarlys is the Norwegian word for polar light, a name given to the special Arctic phenomenon we chase in our winter programme "Hunting the Light." MS Polarlys is a stylish ship, furnished with mahogany panelling, polished brass, and a choice selection of Norwegian contemporary art. Together with the extensive use of wood in the public areas, this has created a unique maritime atmosphere.

Another wonderful journey comes to an end. But what a trip we had. Wonderful weather 🌞, northern lights ✨️ and whales 🐋 along the most beautiful coast of the world.

Njord ment well with us so far. The sea is calm and the weather is good. Apart from Easter, we could offer whales and Northern lights. Now we are southbound, and soon this magical journey comes to an end.

We are about to finish a very special sailing with extreme weather conditions with winds over hurricane speed. And we also have experienced some very beautiful days with stunning lights and colors as well.
A special experience for everyone on board the MS Polarlys.

All went well, and tomorrow we are starting a new journey from Bergen again.

Another trip is coming to an end. This trip has been so beautiful with perfect winter weather, and beautiful colors. Arctic lights, northern lights and snow.

Yesterday was THE day here onboard. With sunshine, orcas, humpback whales, lunar eclipse and beautiful northern lights. They day just kept on giving.

All good things come to an end. Tomorrow it is the last day of our journey, but the end of one thing, is the start of a new. We are glad to welcome our new guests on board tomorrow! In our current tour it felt like we have experienced all seasons; but after a rough night at Lofoten we had a most beautiful morning in Ørnes. Takk for turen!

Autumn has arrived and we have colder days, stronger wind and more clouds, but in return we get to enjoy the most beautiful autumn colours and even some Northern Lights! Here is an impression of our last eight days; this is what Norway looks like in autumn. 😃

Yesterday we experienced our first Northern lights for the season. just after we came out of the Trollfjord it showed up as a really good bonus.

We are once more quite lucky with the weather on our journey. While the South of Norway struggles with storm Hans, we started our journey with sun in Bergen, we only had some (normal) rain in Trondheim and now we are having fantastic sunny summer weather in the North.

At the shallowest point in the Risøyrenna channel we only have 2 meters of water under us.
