Strolling around Bhaktapur
Chandragiri: The Southern Rim of Kathmandu Valley.
Chandragiri 🏔, the spot from where the picaresque view of himalayan range sits in the frame of your sight with Kathmandu Valley as the base. (provided it’s not hazy like when the video was taken 😜)
History narrates it was the view from this place that gave the strong drive to #Prithvinarayan Shah (father of Nation Nepal, the king who unified Nepal in the mid Eighteenth century) to make Kathmandu valley as the part of unified Nepal.
Apart from all other aspect the place also has it's religious and social significance. The religious texts claim it is one of the Shakti Pith () among some in Kathmandu valley. For this the place has earned great reverence and faith of the people.
Now, with the charm of luxury of star hotel and easy excess by #cablecar managed by #Chandragirihills it is one among very few #weekend destination in an hour's distance from #KathmanduValley.

Ghanta: The ring from the earth that resounds at the door of god’s world.
Lakh Batti Prajjwalan
Lakh Batti Prajwalan
Is a ritual of burning of hundred thousands cotton wicks in Nepali hindu community. The practice is conducted as a part in different other bigger occasions but it could be the occasion of its own too.
The literal translation of the phrase is- LAKH(hundred thousand) BATTI (wicks) PRAJWALAN (lightening)- Hundred thousand wicks lightening.
For this devotees spin cotton thread and make wicks themselves. The number of strands in a wick should be five or more in odd number but should be uniform in all wicks. Then wicks are soaked in ghee and arranged in Banana tree bark and burn on propitious moment of the propitious day.
The process of burning of wick is connected with making oneself focused and devoted to a work to have accomplishment. Symbolically burning of wicks is making an effort to awaken one’s self. The spiritual importance of this practice thus is more related with making oneself aware of one’s actions by self effort.
A pair of cotton wick lightening is a very common practice of daily prayer as well.
