Matatirtha Aausi

According to Nepali Lunar calendar today is “Baisakh Krishna Aunshi” (No moon night of the first month of the year), the day celebrated as “Matatirtha Aunshi” ( ’sday) in Nepal.

On this day Nepali hindu community involves in activities to uphold the contribution of mother in their life.

People make a fresh start of the day with refreshing bath and get ready to please their Mothers. They would try their best to visit their mother in their best form. Happy, fresh and thankful.

On the visit gifts and delicacies prepared are offered to the Mothers, and as usual mothers would shower their love and blessings to their children.
It is indeed an emotional moment of being vocal about how one appreciates the contribution of the mother and how immense one has for her.

In the race of life, loaded with the pressure of being successful, we may forget to be grateful for what we have been offered, We might take for granted the efforts the mothers make, and the pain they had to endure for their offsprings. So the day is to give us a nudge so that we can have our eyes open are remain mindfull.
