It’s our pleasure to welcome Bachendri Pal mam - the first Indian woman to Summit Mt. Everest in 1984 and team. It our please to welcome her again for her 40 yrs celebration of Mt. Everest Summit Celebration where she and team are trekking to Everest Base Camp via classic Jiri route!!

About Bachendri Pal:

Bachendri Pal, an Indian mountaineer, was born on May 24, 1954. She was born in the Bhotiya family in Nakuri village of the Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. She was one of five children to Hansa Devi and Kishan Singh Pal – a border tradesman who supplied groceries from India to Tibet. In 1984 she became the first Indian woman to climb the summit of Mount Everest. She successfully led an "Indo-Nepalese Women's Mount Everest Expedition", an all-women team of rafters in "The Great Indian Women's Rafting Voyage" and the "First Indian Women Trans-Himalayan Expedition."

The new signboard erected at the Everest Base Camp (EBC) by the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality about a week ago has sparked a range of strong reactions.

Day 03/ April 9: Acclimatize day and back to Namche

Today was our acclimation day in Namche. We had a hike that took about half a day and was good for everyone to get prepared for the day tomorrow to Tengboche. Ganesh and his team prepared us early in the morning for breakfast and for our gear to be correct. We had a very nice walk from the beautiful mountain city Namche to the beautiful view point just above Namche also called Namche view point in Sagarmatha National Park office province. It was an easy walk to see Mt.Everest and many other famous mountains from a pretty area. After that we walked to Everest view hotel which was a fairly hard walk but was completely worth it for the view. We also had the opportunity to see a museum Sagarmatha Next an art gallery of trash found on the mountain. In all it was a beautiful and informational experience. After that we straight went to local Kitchen in Namche for good locally made lunch. If it weren’t for Ganesh and his team this would not have been possible so I am very thankful for all of them.

Day - 02 April 8: Made it to Namche!

This morning we left Phakding and started on our hike to Namche. We stepped out at about 8 o’clock this morning and started up, we went up and had very beautiful sights on the way very beautiful. We stopped and ate lunch and then got back on the trail as we were going up along the way we were about 30 minutes away from Namche and we went into 2 groups and took a different trail but it lead to the same place. It was very challenging but all worth the sights it was beautiful. We are over all very happy with our experience so far I am so very grateful we are getting to do this with Ganesh and his team I love all of his team members super polite very helpful and very good friends I’m thankful to be on this trip and hope I get to come back!!

Day 01 April 07: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding!!

Today the first of Everest Base Camp Trek. We are about 16 people altogether with local team heading to Everest Base Camp. Woke up early in the morning and had flight at 6:15 to Lukla. It’s a gentle hike following Dudhkoshi (Milk River) all the way to Phakding crossing suspension bridge with welcoming Rhododendron flowers!!

Day 7- Dingboche to Lobuche

This was definitely the most difficult day for me, beautiful but difficult!! The elevation was definitely getting to me. We started the day going up a quick mountain (or small hill is what they would refer to it) then we leveled off with a slight incline for most of the morning. After lunch, like most days, was straight up but unlike most days I was sucking air way more than normal. So I didn't take many pictures, I was just concentrating on breathing and not looking to far ahead. This was also where it turned windy and cold. We passed by the memorials of those we have lost on Everest or at Everest Base Camp (Chhukpi Share Everest Memorial). Such a humbling sight. ❤️🏔️
