one of the biggest celebrations of , is an 8-day festival. As the name suggests, this festival is dedicated to Indra, God of Rain and Harvest which begins with Yosin Thanegu, the pole-raising ceremony which is attended by hundreds of devotees. During the festival, the masks of Bhairava are also displayed throughout the eight days. The celebrations coincide with Kumari Jatra where a special chariot carrying the Living Goddess Kumari is pulled along the main areas of Kathmandu. representing a carnivore devil dances through the alleys of the city while locals offer and try to pacify the the spirit through different gestures of gratitude.
