Min Bahadur Sherchan died at Everest BC-6 May
Nepal’s octogenarian mountaineer Min Bahadur Sherchan died on Saturday afternoon 6 May 2017 at the base camp of Mt Everest. He created the record of the oldest climber to ascend Everest at the age of 76 in 2008, but it was broken by Japanese climber Yuichiro Miura. Mr. Sherchan was born in Myagdi in 1931
His remains was brought to Teaching hospital by helicopter from Base Camp on 7th may 2017 at 10:40 am for postmortem. After postmortem his remains will be taken to Thakali samajha at Balaju for about 3 hours and then will burn at Pashupati Aryaghat this evening.
We lost World record holder legendary mountaineer and would like to express our Heart-felt condolence to the family and may his soul rest in peace.

The Nepal Tourism Board has been awarded the Best Designed Stall in the 4th China International Tourism Expo (CITE) held in Chengdu, China from December 2 to 4, 2016. The award was given amidst the grand function on December 4, 2016. The Nepal Tourism Board participated this Tourism Expo for the fist time along with three other private sector companies to promote Nepal’s tourism in the second tier city. Participated by more than forty countries and 400 participants, this Expo is considered to be most emerging tourism fair in China. During the Expo, Nepal Tourism Board officials made a presentation to potential buyers at the convention hall located inside the Expo venue. They interacted with around with 20 buyers in the B2B meetings organized by the Expo. They also interacted with more than 200 buyers and consumers in the stall and informed them about Nepal’s tourism products.

Local Chinese media also visited the Nepal’s stall and interviewed Nepal Tourism Board officials. The Nepal Tourism Board officials also made a courtesy call to Ms. Ye Yan, General Manager, CITS Sichuan International Travel Service Ltd, the largest travel agency of China. Ms. Yan told NTB officials that CITS is looking forward to work with Nepal Tourism Board in promoting Nepal’s tourism through social media and other means that available at CITS. The Nepal Tourism Board was represented by Mr. Sarad Pradhan, Media Consultant and Mr. Jitendra Bhattarai, Senior Officer. The private participants also actively marketed their products throughout three-day Expo. They expressed their satisfaction over the inquiry they received from the buyers and consumers. The three private companies which participated the CITE were Asia Exploration Treks, Paila Treks and Adventure Outdoor Treks and Expedition.
In the concluding program, the organizer said that 6 thousand buyers and 11 thousand visited the Expo. There is directly flight between Chengdu and Kathmandu operated by Sichuan Air and Air China.
