📖Waitangi Day 懷唐伊日 (Public Holiday)

Waitangi Day (Māori: Te Rā o Waitangi), the national day of New Zealand, marks the anniversary of the initial signing – on 6 February 1840 – of the Treaty of Waitangi, which is regarded as the founding document of the nation. The first Waitangi Day was not celebrated until 1934, and it was made a national public holiday in 1974.

The Treaty of Waitangi was first signed on 6 February 1840 on the grounds of James Busby's house—now known as Treaty House—at Waitangi, in the Bay of Islands. The treaty was signed by representatives acting on behalf of the British Crown and, initially, about 45 Māori chiefs.[2] Over the course of the next seven months, copies of the treaty were toured around the country to give other chiefs the opportunity to sign.[3] The signing had the effect of securing British sovereignty over the islands of New Zealand, which was officially proclaimed on 21 May 1840.

懷唐伊日（英語：Waitangi Day)是紐西蘭的一個紀念日，日期為每年2月6日，紀念紐西蘭建立的文本——懷唐伊條約的簽署。1940年舉行了條約簽訂百年慶典，但由於二戰的緣故參加者不多。該紀念日自1947年起每年慶祝一次。自1952年起總督參加慶祝活動，1958年起首相亦參加，雖然不是每年。1957年紐西蘭工黨的大會上，懷唐伊日被提議成為公共節日。隨著1960年工黨贏得大選，懷唐伊日法案獲得通過。1974年成為國家節日，命名為「紐西蘭日」，1976年則通過法案取消了重命名。

Auckland Anniversary Day is a public holiday observed in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand, being the area's provincial anniversary day. It is observed throughout the historic Auckland Province, even though the provinces of New Zealand were abolished in 1876.

The modern area of observation consists of all of the Northland (where it is known as Northland Day, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne regions, as well as some parts of the Manawatū-Whanganui and Hawke's Bay regions north of the 39th parallel.
The holiday usually falls on the Monday closest to 29 January, the anniversary of the arrival of William Hobson, later the first Governor of New Zealand, in the country in 1840.
