And while all the birds are doing it tough out there in the floods, Bibby is cosy in the Fernlea glasshouse having a smorgasbord of salad. PS Bibby isnt a pheasant as we thought, but a peahen or peacock not sure which as they are hard to sex when young.

We rescued this baby pheasant just 5 days ago and it has already become the Hobbits shadow....
After a heavy storm we found this abandoned pheasant chick. It has been kept warm in a beanie, here it is in the bedroom with us. So far doing well. @fernlea.kiwi
It is tea time. Fred and Barney heading back from the paddock. Barney is always in the lead, Fred comes back puffing and panting.

Shearing time for Mindy and Cindy. The Hobbit is putting ointment on the few nicks on Mindy, it happens... just like nicking yourself when shaving. Both girls are relieved to get their heavy coats off now we are into spring and warmer days. We will be using the wool for insulation.
Our new spring Fernlea babies, Araucana chicks. This breed of chicken originates from Chile.
And another new Fernlea family member born this afternoon to mum, Holy Cow.
We have a new baby at Fernlea, Maisy the mum is doing well and is very proud of her baby.
Our neighbour had a swarm of bees. The Hobbit aka les Janett collected them this morning and they look like they have settled in their new home. Fernlea now has bees.... yay.
