Our perfect power-line pair ventured out to Kaitoke yesterday to help ensure our national power grid is maintained.🔋👨‍🔧
This operation is called human sling and it’s almost self explanatory, we lower power-line workers onto the line to do necessary repairs as these areas have very limited access.

What age can I start helicopter flight training?

You might be surprised to know that there aren't actually many age limits in aviation. You can start training at any age, as long as you can reach the controls! You also need to be old enough (or young enough...!) to understand the process and procedures, so that you'll get some benefit from the training, otherwise it's an expensive hobby...
You do have to be 16 years or older to fly a helicopter by yourself ("going solo"), but if you're in good health, there's nothing stopping you getting airborne in the twilight years...

This weekend Aotearoa celebrates the Matariki public holiday. Matariki is known as the Māori New Year, a time of celebrating, honouring and looking forward to the new year ahead.

The reappearance of the Matariki stars in the early morning sky brings the past year to a close and marks the beginning of the new year.

Matariki is the Māori name to a star cluster that appears in the early morning sky in New Zealand during the mid-winter months. Historically, the stars of Matariki were closely tied to planting, harvesting and hunting. If the stars appeared clear and bright, it signified an abundant season ahead.

We're excited to announce is coming to Te Whanganui-a-Tara for the first time in 2024.

Aotearoa New Zealand’s biggest tourism trade show will be held at Tākina - Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre on 8-10 May 2024.

"TRENZ was back with a bang in May and it’s safe to say the event is rapidly evolving and innovating,” says TIA Chief Executive Rebecca Ingram. “As a passionate Wellingtonian, I’m especially excited to be bringing TRENZ to the capital city for the very first time!”

The format for 2024 has been remodelled to allow more time before and after the business meetings for exploration and discovery of the capital city.

Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau says it is fantastic that Wellington will be hosting TRENZ for the first time. “We can’t wait to welcome domestic and international manuhiri to Te Whanganui-a-Tara and for them to experience first-hand all that New Zealand’s capital city has to offer. Wellington is known for its vibrant culture and iconic events and we’re looking forward to sharing our city, Tākina and the manaakitanga of our people.”
