Thanks for the updates.

On May 4, Dr. Fred visited Busingye group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. There are currently 13 members in this group led by silverback Busingye, with 5 adult females, 1 blackback, 1 juvenile, and 5 infants. During the visit he observed that lead silverback Busingye was very calm, which likely helped the rest of the members of his group to stay calm as well.

Every day is a good hair day for this little one! 🤩 Last week Dr. Adrien visited Hirwa group in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda and had the chance to see Kibyeyi's 11-day-old infant! Kibyeyi is approximately 40 years old and is easily identified in the group due to a drooping right eye (caused by an injury sometime in 2018).

Dr. Adrien reports he was able to observe 14 of the 16 members of Hirwa group and that the 14 are in good visual health.

Season's greetings from the newest member of the Busingye mountain gorilla group in Rushaga, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, born on 17th December 2022.

The mother and father are in perfect health and have been very protective of their new baby which is why its taken long for our field team to get a photo of the baby.

The mother's name is Kafugwe which translates to mean 'Stinging Nettle' (a plant that is predominant in the area where she gave birth).

This new birth brings the total tally of family members to 15. Join us in celebrating our latest addition to our Bwindi family

On Monday, Drs. Eddy and Lina conducted a health check of Mpungwe group, a family of 23 Grauer's gorillas in Kahuzi-Biega National Park, DR Congo. They were able to visually observe 12 individuals in the group and all were in good visual health. Pic: silverback Mpungwe feeding.
