Come join us for a tour of Bannack on August 13th!

Bannack was no stranger to fire. People, homes, and livestock were all lost in fires. Fire was always a threat to communities like Bannack and remains one of the park’s biggest concerns. In 1898, the Bank Exchange Saloon building was serving as a school when it along with the Mikus Saloon and Babcock Fruit Store were all severely damaged. By 1902 the building was serving as the C&M saloon when it was slightly damaged. On this day in 1906, a 116 years ago, the C&M Saloon (Bank Exchange) along with several other building was destroyed by fire and never rebuilt.
