I took some time today to explore in a different direction. I went South toward Oqueoc Fallls and on to a lovely Orchard. I was pleasantly surprised by their wood fired pizza! I honestly think it’s the best I have ever had. I was tempted to try a flight of their hard ciders but stuck with the unleaded stuff. Maybe next time. I made sure to sample a cookie, donut, and some apple crumb pie too, only so I could report back of course. I nice bag of Zestar apples came home with me. Such a cute store too. I’ll definitely be going back frequently.

Exploring by boat, we've seen some amazing things! We recently anchored near Waugoshance Point and took paddle boards to explore closer. The ancient lighthouse looked like something straight out of a fairy tale, and the rock with a flower was an unexpected surprise that captured my attention. You never know what you'll come across!

Right now we still have availability the weekend of the Mackinac Island Fudge Festival! Looks like some fun activities are planned. It’s only about an 8 minute drive and then a fun ferry boat ride to the island from Heaven on Huron!

Round Island Lighthouse is a half mile south of the ferry dock on Mackinac Island.
The whole island is public land with quiet sandy beaches.
If you bring your boat up here, it’s a great spot to explore.

Last night we watched the 4th of July fireworks from our beach. We could see them from 5 different towns! Mackinaw city, St Ignace, Mackinac Island, Bois Blanc, and Cheboygan. Of course we could also see the sunset and the Mighty Mac. What an amazing way to celebrate our country’s independence.

We LOVE excellent food! The Leggs Inn is one of our favorites.
It’s on Lake Michigan between Mackinac City and Petoskey.
The view and food are awesome, and the history and architecture of the building is truly one of a kind.
